Apple was originally expected to upgrade its iPad Pro lineup later this year alongside the M3 chip. However, it appears that the company pushed the launch of the chip to next year which also delayed the launch of the OLED iPad Pro models alongside the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. In a strange turn of events, a new report suggests that Apple's upcoming M3 iPad Pro models will not house an OLED display but revert to LCD due to higher production costs of the mini-LED panel.
A sketchy report from DigiTimes claims that Apple's forthcoming M3 iPad Pro models will feature an LCD panel instead of an OLED display. It was previously speculated that one of the most notable improvements coming with the iPad Pro models will be the new OLED display. The company would opt to switch to OLED from the mini-LED display on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and LCD from the 11-inch iPad Pro.
Apple has kept the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 11-inch iPad Pro apart when it comes to display technology. The news of both models sporting tan OLED displays excited many users as the company would let go of the segregation. If the company jumps back to the LCD displays on both models, it would be a step down rather than an upgrade. Henceforth, be sure to take the news with a grain of salt.
The report mentions that Apple's decision to move away from the mini-LED technology is higher production cost as the company is planning to emphasize "scalability and market penetration." This means that the company could delay the production of the 2024 iPad Pro models to early next year which was originally speculated to begin in November of this year.
As mentioned earlier, the LCD backlighting would be a huge downgrade for the company and if the company is indeed planning to incorporate the aged technology, it could pose less demand than anticipated. However, DigiTimes also contradicted the same report, citing that Apple is planning to launch new iPad Pro models with AMOLED displays from LG and Samsung. The publication could be referring to a model other than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. We have previously covered that Apple also has plans to release a nigger 12.9-inch version of the iPad Air.
We suspect that Apple's decision to introduce a 12.9-inch LCD display is oriented toward a future version of the iPad Air. The M3 iPad Pro models will potentially launch with OLED displays next year. We will keep you guys updated on the latest as soon as further details are available on the upcoming iPad Pro models.

If the project does not kick off by December, it's increasingly likely that we'll have to wait longer for the next-generation the watch to be launched.
