Apple Vision Pro to launch in February

Cyberpunk 2077 is probably in the running for the open world game with the most hidden references and secret Easter eggs, with new discoveries being made on an almost weekly basis. GTA: San Andreas, The Matrix, Death Stranding, The Witcher 3, and pretty much every other popular game or movie release over the past two decades has made a little cameo somewhere, but one of the game's more interesting secret messages has been hiding in plain sight ever since launch.

Beyond its new policy allowing game streaming apps worldwide, Apple today announced new changes it is making to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets Act, most notably that it will allow alternative app payments and app stores.

Following a lengthy investigation, the United States Justice Department is set to file a lawsuit against Apple for potentially breaching antitrust laws. The department alleges Apple is using hardware and software limitations that make it harder for rival companies to compete with iPhones and iPads. If the filing goes ahead, it will mean each of the “big four” tech companies – Amazon, Meta, Google and Apple – will have been sued by the US federal government within the past five years for monopolistic business practices.

Apple Vision Pro pre-orders went live on January 19th and surprisingly people seem to have been falling over each other to get this outstanding new Apple innovation. While reports were claiming that the Vision Pro headset might attract fewer users due to its massive price tag and lower battery life, however, it is reported that Apple has sold up to 180000 units of Vision Pro headsets during the pre-order weekend. With support for Cyberpunk 2077 having finally ended, CD Projekt RED is moving on to its next projects, and while it looks like The Witcher 4 will take precedence as it enters full production later this year, work on the next Cyberpunk game is also underway.

Apple Inc.'s long-awaited Vision Pro mixed-reality headset finally became available for preorders on Friday, giving the company its first real taste of consumer demand for the $3,499 device. With the launch, the company disclosed two additional configurations: a version with 512 gigabytes of storage for $3,699, and a top-end model with 1 terabyte of space for $3,899. The base model includes 256 gigabytes of storage. The company also said it would sell a carrying case for $199 and additional batteries for $199, while extra bands will cost $99 a piece.

It's generally accepted that Mark Zuckerberg, in the two years since he renamed Facebook to Meta Platforms Inc., has done a poor job of selling his metaverse vision to the masses. Instead it touts “spacial computing” when describing the Apple Vision Pro headset, which is being released early next month.

Apple has finally revealed the date for the date on which the Apple Vision Pro sale will start. It has also indicated that the pre-order starts this Friday. The official sale date is scheduled for February 2, 2024. As far as the Vision Pro is concerned, while the tech is awesome and its capabilities simply mind-blowing, there are a few things buyers should look at. Experts have indicated that the new AR/VR headset is complicated to use and has a low battery life. That means it will be hard to persuade people to invest in a $3499 headset.
