The new 13-inch, 15-inch M3 MacBook Air and the base M3 MacBook Pro all have 8GB unified RAM for the base configuration. Where Apple’s competitors have started outfitting their premium notebooks with 16GB RAM as standard, the company has taken a backseat when it comes to upping the total memory count. According to the latest interview, Apple executives have defended the technology giant’s decision by stating that this amount of unified RAM is ‘suitable’ for various tasks. Obviously, these individuals have ignored the significant number of drawbacks that come with these limitations, which we have discussed below.
Tasks that can easily handle 8GB unified RAM on MacBooks, according to the Apple executive, include web browsing and more
Kate Bergeron, Apple’s Vice President of hardware engineering, and Evan Buyze, who hails from the company’s Mac marketing team, sat down for an interview with Chinese publication ITHome, talking about several topics revolving around MacBooks. With the latest MacBook Air models, the base versions only provide you with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, which is insufficient for a massive percentage of users. When discussing the RAM part of the configuration, Buyze states that 8GB is ‘suitable’ for everyday tasks.

These everyday tasks involve web browsing, lightweight editing of photos and videos, and streaming movies. Remember that it is not the first time that the company has defended its business practice of incorporating 8GB of RAM in its machines. The last time this question was asked, Apple Vice President of worldwide product marketing Bob Borchers stated that 8GB of unified memory is analogous to 16GB on other systems. Various tests have shown that this configuration is insufficient for running a few apps simultaneously, and the excess data starts getting read by the NAND flash instead, reducing their endurance.
A simple solution would have been to swap out the existing memory for a high-capacity one, but that was if Apple offered such an option, as all of its Macs launched in the past few years come with the RAM and storage soldered to the logic board. To make matters worse, Apple charges a hefty premium if customers want to increase their existing RAM or storage, making it extremely taxing on their finances. Hopefully, as programs start to become more memory-intensive, Apple will increase their base configuration, but currently, customers are stuck with 8GB RAM variants.

Huawei achieved another milestone with its Pura 70 series launch and that is sourcing 90 percent of smartphone components from Chinese suppliers. With the U.S. export control barring foreign companies from shipping parts to the company to use in various products, Huawei was adamant about cutting off overseas manufacturers and relying on local firms to get the job done. So far, the progress has been impressive, and only a few components remain to completely eliminate dependency on supply chain partners outside of China.
The demand for Apple Vision Pro is slowly dwindling, but the company’s long-term goals have not budged an inch. A new report states that the successor to the $3,499 AR headset could launch sometime by the end of 2026. However, there is a huge glaring issue that Apple needs to address, or this product category will most likely never take off, and that is pricing. For that to happen, the technology giant needs to bring down its component costs, but with each current-generation unit estimated to set back Apple by $1,542, the road to a more affordable head-mounted wearable is long and hard.
Apple Vision Pro surveys have been sent out to users ever since the headset launched earlier this year, but on this occasion, the company has sent customers a multitude of questions, wanting to learn about their experience and usage habits. What is interesting about the latest in-depth survey is that it was sent out shortly after the technology giant reportedly cut production of its latest head-mounted wearable to an estimated 400,000 to 450,000 annual units.
Huawei was previously rumored to be developing an Apple M1 competitor to take that ARM-based chipset market share away from the company. However, according to the latest information, the Chinese firm is using the Taishan V130 architecture to mass produce a silicon that can come close to the M3’s multi-core performance. It appears that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite is not the only one trying to carve out a piece of the pie.
The Snapdragon X Elite performance numbers that nearly everyone has seen would likely present an impression that Qualcomm has finally developed a capable ARM-based SoC that delivers some much-needed competition to Apple Silicon. Unfortunately, that would have been the case if the San Diego chip giant had not allegedly manipulated benchmarks. One report says that the benchmark claims are impossible to recreate for Qualcomm’s partners that will eventually use the Snapdragon X Elite in various notebook models.
Grand Theft Auto 5 has received multiple updates over the years, adding new content, missions, heists and more to GTA Online, but the game has never received a story expansion since its initial release in 2013. Past reports have mentioned scrapped plans for story DLCs for the game, and more recently leaked database file from GTA 5 suggested that developers Rockstar Games cancelled a story mode DLC related to Trevor, one of the game's three main protagonists. Now, the actor who played the eccentric character in GTA 5 has said that he “shot some stuff” for a Trevor DLC that never saw the light of day.

Apple is expected to rely on China for a reliable supply chain for the foreseeable future, and though the company has successfully established manufacturing plants outside of the country, it will take years before the technology giant can claim complete independence from the region. Now, according to its 2023 supplier list, Apple has added eight new supply chain members from China while removing four of them due to undisclosed reasons.
A few hours have passed since Huawei officially announced the Pura 70 series of flagships, which boast the upgraded Kirin 9010 chipset, along with improvements in various areas. As you would expect, in the blink of an eye, the premium Pura 70 Pro and the Pura 70 Ultra sold out in just one minute when sales went live on the Chinese phone maker’s online store. This might showcase evidence that the latest models will ship in droves and that Huawei’s competition has much to worry about.
Samsung has expanded its Galaxy F15 smartphone lineup in India by introducing a new variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This latest addition joins the existing 4GB and 6GB RAM versions already available in the market.
In this post, we're taking a look at «Dalaran Defender» weapon models added in the War Within alpha. Early signs point to Dalaran playing a role in the build up to the expansion, and vendors from the pre-patch event will sell these weapons. The Dalaran weapons reflect the style of the city, with the trademark pink Kirin Tor logo and golden details. We've also found Dalaran Defender armor, but these appearances could be placeholder as they match the Ensemble: Void-Bound Battlegear sets coming from the Trading Post and doesn't thematically fit the colors of the city. On the other hand, these items could be a tribute to Xal'atath and the shadowy threats of the War Within.

Compared to the Kirin 9000S that debuted in the Mate 60 family last year, the Kirin 9010 is a noteworthy upgrade, offering a 12-core configuration, along with other changes, as you will soon find out.
