It was reported recently that Apple could release new Macs by the end of this month. The company was previously expected to announce new Macs in the Sring time next year. If Apple plans to release new Macs on October 30, Mark Gurman suggests that Apple event invites will arrive later today. We are expecting Apple to announce the new M3 chip with improved performance alongside the MacBook Air and Pro models.
Apple will potentially release its upcoming iOS 17.1, watchOS 10.1, macOS Sonoma 14.1, and tvOS 17.1 updates later today for all compatible devices. The company could send out event invites at the same time. Prominent industry analyst Mark Gurman shared the news in a follow-up tweet to his Power On newsletter that he shared over the weekend. Take note that news related to Apple's event has been on and off for a while. What this means is that there are chances the company will introduce new Macs next year.
If Apple announces the new devices today, we are expecting various machines that will be powered by the new M3 chip. Apple announced the new 15-inch MacBook Air at its WWDC 2023 event with an M2 chip. Henceforth, there is a slight possibility that the 15-inch variant will not be upgraded. However, the M2 MacBook Air with a 13-inch display has been around for more than a year and desperately needs an upgrade as far as the processor is concerned.
The company could also announce the 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M3 chip. If we are lucky, the company could upgrade the design of the machine to its current standard. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is the only option with a Touch Bar at this point, which appears to have aged over time. The company could trim down the bezels by a little, providing a more modern look to the device. However, these are mere speculations, and the company could announce the device with the same design as the M2 version.
Other than this, the company could also announce its highly anticipated M3-powered 24-inch iMac. The company would only upgrade the internals of the device while keeping the external design the same as the M1 variant. However, minor display tweaks and new color options can be expected. All Macs will be powered by the company's upcoming M3 chip fabricated on TSMC's 3nm process. You can expect major improvements in terms of computational as well as graphical performance.
As mentioned earlier, Apple will send out its event invites later today. The analyst also coins that it will not be an in-person event. The company could also announce the new Macs via press release unless there are some major additions coming. At its event, Apple could announce the new iPad mini 7, iPad Air 7, and iPad 11, while rumors point to a 2024 release.
