FNTASTIC has been working on their game The Day Before for the last five years. Two years ago, they released an announcement trailer that promised an artfully created massive online multiplayer where players would have to scavenge for survival in a world that a zombie apocalypse had destroyed. It sounded like it had the bones to be one of the most successful games launched this year, but The Day Before was one of the worst games ever ( and according to some, maybe even of all time).

Bragging maximum realism, realistic reload and recoil mechanics, and customisable weapons, The Day Before promised its fans, who had been patiently waiting for the game for the last two years, a lot, and unfortunately, it didn’t deliver. According to IGN’s Gabriel Moss, the game was rated Unbearable, and:
“The Day Before is easily one of the worst games I’ve ever played, to the point where I’m afraid to continue running it on my PC – and if you didn’t manage to try it, you can count yourself as one of the lucky ones.”
Many players, including Gabriel Moss, reported severe performance issues associated with the game despite playing the game on a system that should have been more than capable of withstanding rendering the game.

Rendering the game should have been fine, looking at the unimaginatively designed world loosely based on New York City. While it might have been a decently sized metropolitan city, there wasn’t much to the city or the story, leaving you with nothing to do but loot and scavenge. According to reviews, starvation poses more of a threat than the zombies do.
Adding to the plethora of issues that players and reviewers had with the game on launch, The Day Before was advertised as an MMO, Mass Multiplayer Online game, and one of the most significant issues was multiplayer. The game has no multiplayer menu, no multiplayer voice chat, and only a rudimentary in-game chat window. Even figuring out that you are in a squad with another player is almost impossible. In his in-depth review, Moss went on to say:
“I’d have had a more enjoyable time actually hiding under a dumpster surrounded by zombies than waiting for The Day Before’s multiplayer to work.”

The Day Before was released on the 7th of December and was one of the worst releases in video game history. The game’s reception was so bad that not only were most copies refunded, but FNTASTIC announced that they would get nothing from the sales.
To add insult to injury, they also announced that the development studio would close after the disastrous launch. Servers are staying up for the few players who have
