After last week’s bombastic report about XDefiant from Insider Gaming, Ubisoft has shared a new update, including news of an upcoming stress test.
As we had reported on the end of March, just last Friday, Insider Gaming made some alarming claims about behind the scenes development at the title. Their sources referred to a group called The Boys’ Club, that had been a toxic influence in work at the game. The Boys’ Club were blamed for the long, allegedly unnecessary, delays of the title.
In a tweet this weekend, the official Twitter account shared this message:
“Defiants,
First and foremost, thank you for your continued support for XDefiant. We are proud to have such a passionate community, and we thank you for your participation in our test phases, including our Insider Sessions.
This game has always been community-first, with player feedback as a top priority. While we hoped to go live by the end of March, there are still some improvements that we need to test before that.
We’re finishing preparation for a 12-hour Server Test Session that will be worldwide on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The goal of this test is to stress our servers and get critical data to prepare us for launch.
We’re finishing preparation for a 12-hour Server Test Session that will be worldwide on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The goal of this test is to stress our servers and get critical data to prepare us for launch. This is where we need your help to test our servers as much as possible! As always, feedback on your experience is important to us.
After this short test, we expect to be able to lock a launch date and start sharing more about the exciting content XDefiant has to offer in the future!
Thank you for standing by us. We will be back once we are ready to share more news.
Without acknowledging the Insider Gaming report, this statement appears to be a partial reaction towards it. At the very least, it seems to have been sent out to manage the negative online sentiment that was growing from the report.
One can also take the lack of any dates for the launch, as well as the stress test, as a red flag that the game is still in troubled development. But it must be said, if a stress test is forthcoming, then that’s a hint that the game is nearing launch.
We will see shortly if the game is coming to release soon. There will definitely be immediate fallout if, after they make this statement, we don’t get so much as the stress test before this month ends.
XDefiant is planned for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Amazon Luna, and Windows on Ubisoft Connect. XDefiant will not be on Steam.
