Microsoft has announced that a new Xbox Partner Preview stream will be taking place this week on Wednesday 6th March at 6PM GMT (1PM ET, 10AM PT). The stream will feature Capcom, EA and Nexon in a 30 minute broadcast with over a dozen new trailers.
You can tune in at the following places:
There will be a focus on gameplay footage from Microsoft’s third party partners, with the confirmed games including
Perhaps the most exciting of the bunch is Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, though it’s been flying a bit under the radar since it’s announcement last summer. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC – and with a day one launch on Game Pass – there’s a wonderful performative tone to the original trailer, as you look to guide a Spirit Stone Maiden on a journey through the Seethe-infested world to reach and sanctify a sacred mountain.
Path of Exile 2 is a long, long-awaited sequel – first announced in 2019, with a second trailer in 2021 and then last year’s return to the spotlight – and will no doubt delight fans of Diablo-style action RPGs. Meanwhile Tales of Kenzera: Zau will be a fascinating game for fans of side-scrolling action adventures, especially as it draws upon Bantu mythology for its inspiration and leans into telling a story about loss.
Microsoft are looking to get back to a bit of normalcy after a turbulent start to the year. They started off with a bang, thanks to the January’s Xbox Developer_Direct stream showcasing upcoming first party games that included Indiana Jones and the Golden Circle, Hellblade 2, Avowed and more, all of which are coming out this year. But then came the massive layoffs of around 1,900 Xbox employees just a week later – a figure made much larger by the kinds of consolidation and redundancies that take place after a massive acquisition, like that of Activision Blizzard – and then the rumour mill started spinning at a frightening rate, as reports emerged of Microsoft planning to go almost fully third party. In the end, Microsoft did confirm that they would be experimenting with releasing first party games on PlayStation and Switch, and eventually revealed that four games would be making the leap.
And so… now it’s back to the regular running order with a third party partner stream to showcase a bunch of games coming to Xbox (and no doubt proclaiming a fair few of them as Game Pass titles as they go!
