Fallout 5 won't start development until after The Elder Scrolls 6 launches, so we're a long way off from the next numbered game in the series, but the Amazon show has ignited a newfound hype in the franchise. So, the question is whether a third party will develop a spin-off akin to Obsidian's New Vegas in the meantime.
Wizards Of The Coast "Talking To Partners" About Baldur's Gate 3 Sequel

Larian Studios confirmed earlier this year that it will not be involved in Baldur's Gate 4. The studio is moving away from Dungeons & Dragons to focus on its own projects, whatever they may be. But that doesn't mean the series is over.
Given the enormous success of Baldur's Gate 3, Wizards of the Coast is on the hunt for someone to step into those big Gale-sized shoes and deliver a worthy sequel.
The bar has been set very high, and it's our job to reach and surpass that bar.
"We're now talking to lots of partners and being approached by a lot of partners who are embracing the challenge of, what does the future of the Baldur's Gate franchise look like?" Eugene Evans, senior vice president of digital strategy and licensing for Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro, told PC Gamer. "So we certainly hope that it's not another 25 years, as it was from Baldur's Gate 2 to 3, before we answer that."
However, while Wizards of the Coast is eager to find someone capable of carrying on the mantle of a series started by the now-iconic BioWare and taken to even higher heights through Larian Studios, it doesn't want to rush things. "We're going to take our time and find the right partner, the right approach, and the right product that could represent the future of Baldur's Gate," Evans said. "We don't rush into decisions as to who to partner with on products".
It's too early to talk specifics, but Evans did discuss the possibility of fan-favourite characters returning. Baldur's Gate 3 itself brought back other popular icons from earlier in the series like Minsc and Jaheira, so there's already a precedent.
"Larian created a much-loved cast of characters, who were even celebrated by their nominations," Evans said. "I would like to think that all of those characters, for the sake of the fans, could potentially appear in future products."
Neil Newbon said that he'd "love" to play Astarion again, while Karlach actor Samantha Béart and Jaheira actor Tracy Wiles said, "Show me the script." So, with the cast willing, perhaps we'll see our unlikely party of misfits return for another instalment one day.
Baldur's Gate 3 is the long-awaited next chapter in the Dungeons & Dragons-based series of RPGs. Developed by Divinity creator Larian Studios, it puts you in the middle of a mind flayer invasion of Faerûn, over a century after the events of its predecessor.

Larian aren’t just not making Baldur’s Gate 4 – they’re treating Baldur’s Gate 3’s success as an opportunity to develop their own intellectual properties, with two new games in the works. These games will build on the “sensibilities” of Baldur’s Gate 3 in being “immersive experiences shaped by your choices”, but by the sounds of things, they won’t be adaptations of anybody else's narrative or setting. Divinity: Original Sin 3? It’s the obvious call, but come now, free your mind. How about a kart racing game, Larian, or a banging old school mascot platformer?
