Deux Ex creator Warren Spector says he would still love to make a third game in the Epic Mickey series, but that it’s currently “impossible”.
Though best known for the Deus Ex games, Spector was also the director of the first Epic Mickey and creative director on its sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.
As spotted by ComicBook.com, Spector recently wrote a post on his LinkedIn page expressing his happiness that Epic Mickey is being remastered.
“I can’t begin to describe how excited I am that Disney Epic Mickey is coming back on Switch and other platforms,” Spector said.
“Everyone on the original team as well as the Purple Lamp and THQ Nordic teams that worked on the remaster did a great job bringing the game to life.
“The teams on that project were fantastic – it was obviously a real labor of love – and every team member can take pride in the fact that we created something that (like just about everything Disney) is evergreen. Being part of the company’s ongoing legacy of delivering family entertainment that lives on for decades is more than I could have hoped for.”
Spector was then asked by a LinkedIn connection if he would ever make an Epic Mickey 3 asked, to which he replied that as much as he would love to, he didn’t think it would be possible under the current circumstances.
“I’d love to do Epic Mickey 3 but I have a day job that would make that impossible,” he explained. “I actually have a high level idea for what I’d do in a tri-quel.”
Announced last week, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is coming to Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year.
