Ubisoft Announces Tom Clancy's The Division 3, Appoints New Series Producer

Not long ago it was quietly announced that The Division 3 was in the works at Ubisoft. I don’t think many fans of the series were surprised, seeing as how The Division 2 has been rehashing old seasons as the wind down supporting it as a live service. The Division 3 will certainly be a welcome inclusion, but with two other The Division titles also on the horizon, the third iteration of the series will need to make some hefty changes, especially if it intends to compete with many of the other looter shooters that have risen in popularity.

Ubisoft has outed the existence of The Division 3 — the next game in its looter shooter series. The title is currently in early development, and that's pretty much all we've got to go on. Just to give you an idea of what 'early' means, the team at Massive Entertainment — the lead developer on both of the previous Division games — is now recruiting for the project. So yeah, it's early.

Netflix has announced the Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft animated series, based on the Tomb Raider video game series. It is produced by Legendary with Crystal Dynamics.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is officially on the cards. Julian Gerighty, who worked on the previous games before becoming creative director on Star Wars Outlaws, will become executive producer for The Division brand once the sci-fi title is out.

Ubisoft has made another shakeup for one of its core franchises, as Julian Gerighty is now the executive producer for its Division franchise. After shipping Star Wars Outlaws (as its creative director), he's to oversee the "plethora of projects" for the Tom Clancy branded sub-franchise. 

Ubisoft sure does love a sequel, and it's now confirmed — in just about as understated a fashion as is possible — that it's got another one in the works, this time in the form of The Division 3.

The French publisher also announced it tapped Julian Gerighty as the new executive producer for The Division brand. He will dive into the new role once his work as creative director on Star Wars Outlaws is wrapped up.

In what could arguably be one of the most deflated ways to announce a new game in a series, Ubisoft has revealed that The Division 3 is coming thanks to a tweet announcing Julian Gerighty’s new role at the company. The tweet sees Ubisoft mention the game’s existence in a passing remark as they announce Gerighty’s new position as Executive Producer for the series, and it’s honestly about as unexciting as a reveal can get.
