Twitch goes down the social media route by introducing Stories

There are several major social media cases facing the US Supreme Court this term, all having to do with the First Amendment. The decisions the court issues will effectively create a new legal regime where none existed before. Insomniac's first Spider-Man game had a social media feed you could view on the map, seeing what everyone in New York City thought of the web-slinging menace. There were people asking if he ever ate his own webs, celebrating Wilson Fisk's downfall, sharing fan fiction, and poking fun at the Daily Bugle. But if you look at the map on Spider-Man 2, you'll notice there's no social media.

You almost have to wonder if Masahiro Sakurai will ever run out of things to discuss with his “Creating Games” channel. After doing a very fun crossover series with the Retro Game Master, where they played various arcade titles from history, he returned to his “standard formula” of making videos about certain “game essences” and mechanics. In today’s video, he pulled back the curtain behind the legendary “Shoryuken” attack that was made famous by Street Fighter. What would he have to talk about with that attack? Well, a lot more than you think when you look at its history and how it’s evolved throughout the franchise.

Nintendo doesn’t want its sassy flowers to say “fuck,” apparently. In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the world is filled with small talking flowers that cheer the player on and shout out all kinds of largely family-friendly quips. has released updated social media guidelines that place new restrictions on the ways in which content creators are allowed to discuss and share footage of the gaming giant’s hardware and software. The move comes a day after the company unveiled controversial changes to its guidelines on how Nintendo games can be used in tournaments, drawing backlash from many in the competitive gaming scene.
