Twin Peaks Gets the Retro Treatment in New Fan Game. Demo Out Now

Netflix released the first trailer on Tuesday for The Killer, David Fincher’s latest psychological action thriller starring Michael Fassbender as a methodical and highly trained assassin undergoing a crisis of conscience while on assignment in Paris. The trailer is quintessential Fincher: a fast-cut montage of scenes of Fassbender narrating his gradual psychological breakdown filled with sickly yellow hues and icy turquoise lighting, powered by an ominous, thrumming electronic score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

There’s nothing scarier than real life itself, after all, and Conscript takes place within the trenches of World War I while drawing from iconic games like Resident Evil 4. You play as a lone French soldier navigating the brutal environment and solving complicated puzzles. At Gamescom, we got the opportunity to talk to Jordan Mochi, the solo Catchweight Studio developer behind the classic-inspired horror game.

In a vast desert, scattered with the eroded husks of long-dead boats, there stands a vast tower. The word “tower” doesn’t really cover it. Rectangular mountain? City-sized monolith? Vertical landscape? Whatever, our young hero, dressed in technical sports gear and a feathery, birdlike cape, walks toward it with determination. We’re going up.

When Lil Gator Game launched last December, it captured our hearts as a fun, cozy adventure that drew obvious inspiration from the Legend of Zelda franchise. The low-stakes exploration, vibrant environments, and charming cast of characters all made for a cute, low-stress adventure that we couldn't help but enjoy (read our review here). Today, developer MegaWobble and publisher Playtonic Friends announced a new content update for its well-liked title to entice players to give it another go.

When it comes to capturing childlike wonder and exploration, few projects do it quite like Lil Gator Game. The humbly-titled adventure made a delight out of exploration, and new content has arrived for those who hunger for more carefree travels.

A demo is now available for a fan-made Twin Peaks game designed to look like a PS1 title.

You may have watched the original run of Twin Peaks so many times that you exclaim “damn fine coffee” each and every time you grab a cup, but have you ever played the story through the eyes of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper? You’ll soon be able to do just that via the magic of video games. A small French developer called Blue Rose Team has been prepping Twin Peaks: Into the Night for a while now, and it just dropped a demo of the fan-made game.

Twin Peaks, the beloved mystery serial drama created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, has been the inspiration for several video games since the show first premiered in 1990. From Deadly Premonition and Alan Wake to Kentucky Route Zero and more, countless games have paid homage to the cult classic TV series centered on Special Agent Dale Cooper’s investigation into the murder of high school girl Laura Palmer in the quiet town of Twin Peaks, Washington.
