The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep brings Geralt back to Netflix in anime form

Along with its Witcher-themed cosmetics, Destiny is also getting the franchise's most iconic meme.

Andrzej Sapkowski may have penned The Witcher novels, which in turn inspired both CD Projekt Red's video game series and Netflix's TV adaptation, but that doesn't mean that the streaming service ever listened to his feedback.

When it comes to The Witcher, it’s one of the best examples of having adaptations across multiple forms of media and having those adaptations be good. It started as a book series, then was picked up by CD Projekt Red, who turned it into an award-winning gaming franchise, and then Netflix grabbed it, and they’ve had three seasons of it on their streaming service, with a spinoff or two to boot. So you’d think that franchise fans and those associated with it would be happy with everything happening. However, when it comes to the franchise’s creator, he does have some bitter feelings.

Destiny 2 is getting ready for its next season, and with this, players are getting some fantastic new gear inspired by the White Wolf. 

The Witcher series hasn't been doing too well in recent years, routinely angering fans by straying too far from the source material, putting little effort into CGI and costumes, and replacing Geralt of Rivia actor Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth for future seasons. Cavill's departure was the turning point for a lot of fans, who have been rallying against the show ever since. Now, they have a new reason to be angry.

Scott Pilgrim creator and showrunner of the new Netflix anime Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has responded to fan confusion about the show. The eight-part series begins with a pretty huge twist in its opening episode, before veering into a new direction from both the comics and the Edgar Wright-directed movie.

Music has always been an integral part of Scott Pilgrim. There are the in-universe bands – Sex Bob-omb, The Clash at Demonhead, The Katayanagi Twins – and the (often banger) songs they play, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the Worldadded a lot of moody and groovy music to the mix to help complement the hyper-stylized approach Edgar Wright took to the adaptation.

CD Projekt have announced that they're working on a free mod editor for The Witcher 3, allowing you to write entire new quests for grizzly Geralt, or just make him walk around with no trousers on, which he spends every other cutscene doing anyway. There are already many mods for the venerable fantasy RPG, of course - the options range from mods that give you Henry Cavill's face to mods that simulate the effects of long Covid to raise awareness - but the editor should make life easier for the internet's Geralt-whisperers. Better late than never.

21 years after it originally entered development, the devs behind Shantae have come back together to finish development on the Metroidvania's canceled GBA sequel, which is now also getting remastered for modern platforms.

The original voice of Geralt is returning to voice The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep – and fans are beyond stoked.

The Terminator will be back, in animated form, on Netflix in 2024. As part of its Geeked Week promotion, Netflix and Skydance revealed their take on the sci-fi series originally created by James Cameron, showing the first teaser for the Terminator anime.
