Stellar Blade is looking to be a smash hit for developer Shift Up and PlayStation, having successfully convinced enough people to pick up and play Eve's maiden adventure. Despite having an interesting world and fluid combat, you can't say it's unfair to assume that one of the big draws for some people is Eve herself, with her body and raunchy outfits making up 99 percent of the games pre and post-launch discourse.
Well, Shift Up knew that some people would immediately start ogling Eve as soon as they got the game in their hands, and seems to have left a little surprise for the people that stare a little too much. First posted by Reddit user UrTypicalGamer to the Stellar Blade subreddit (thanks GamesRadar), it seems as though Eve will figure out that you're looking at her a bit too closely and fire a mucky look back.
UrTypicalGamer's example is pretty subtle, with Eve simply looking sideways towards the player, so you could wave it away as a simple trick of the camera or part of her idle animation. However, it becomes much more apparent that Eve is telling you without a single word to knock it off when you take a look at an example shared by Reddit user JTRILL24.
In this example, JTRILL24 explains that they were getting a look at Eve from below (gosh, I wonder why) before Eve realizes what's going on and immediately locks her gaze towards the camera. She then stares down the player in a way that would be kind of neat if it wasn't so uncanny valley, especially with how unflinching Eve's facial expression is. It's definitely creepy enough to ensure that you keep your eyes to yourself from that point on.
Funnily enough, Stellar Blade isn't the first title to predict that players will have seedy intentions towards a game's main character, as Death Stranding has Sam punch the camera if you insist on trying to get a quick view of Sam's junk. Similarly, Nier: Automata's 2B tells you off for trying to be a creep, though the achievement/trophy for getting told off ten times makes the entire thing feel icky rather than a developer giving its player a slap on the wrist.
