Steam Crosses 36 Million Concurrent Users

Eight years after it was first released, Stardew Valley is currently the most-played game on the Steam Deck. The Steam Deck has plenty of incredible titles available for playing on the go, but right now, Stardew Valley has become gamers' top choice once again.

The Steam Deck is considered by many fans to be the king of PC gaming handhelds. While Valve is miles away from seriously challenging Nintendo’s market position, and their own device can’t run all games on Steam, it still endures as one of the most popular devices in the category. It may very well be the best seller out of all of them, thanks to a combination of its early market lead, its now global distribution network, and the ease of use with SteamOS compared to Windows.

Smash-hit co-op horror game Content Warning is now a certified viral mega-hit, with over 6.2 million players claiming the game for free at launch.

Landfall’s surprise April Fools release Content Warning has been claimed by more than 6 million Steam users in only 24 hours.

While April Fool’s is a time of jokes and “gotchas”, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator developer Landfall used the opportunity to launch its newest game, Content Warning. Available for free in its first 24 hours, it hit 204,439 peak concurrent players on Steam, per SteamDB.

Eremite Games’ Against the Storm exited early access back in December, launching for PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The positive feedback has helped because it recently sold over one million units on Steam alone.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's first season is live now, introducing the Joker as a playable character. Since being available to anyone with the base game, the season has resulted in a small increase in the playerbase, although nowhere near the figures it pulled in at launch.

It Takes Two took the games industry by storm when it launched back in 2021, enjoying widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike and raking in numerous accolades and awards at the end of the year. Hazelight Studios’ co-op platformer has, thankfully enough, also enjoyed commercial success to reflect its critical acclaim, and is, in fact, continuing to sell at an impressive rate.

Steam might be on the way to making its Discovery Queue more lucrative for users, as per a recent patent. The Discovery Queue has been quite a popular feature for players to find some hidden gems on Steam, and it seems like the new feature is set to attract more people by incentivizing them.

Controversies surrounding microtransactions notwithstanding, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has got off to an impressive start since its release a couple of days ago. The open world action RPG has enjoyed widespread acclaim from critics, currently sitting at an OpenCritic score of 89, and has also attracted players in droves. Immediately upon release, the game became Capcom’s biggest-ever single player launch on Steam, and its numbers have kept on steadily climbing since then.

Sony has enjoyed unprecedented success with the PC audience this year, courtesy of Helldivers 2, and though the co-op shooter is continuing to make waves, the company does have other titles lined up for the platform as well. Recently, Horizon Forbidden West made the jump to PC, and it’s gotten off to a decent start where its Steam numbers are concerned.

Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2, a sequel to the 2012 cult classic, is now available worldwide. While it may be some time before sales are announced, the PC version has peaked at 184,724 concurrent players on Steam, per SteamDB.
