may be a game known for its peaceful energy and wholesome characters but introducing multiplayer can result in some hilariously dramatic stories. As players progress through the game and befriend the many citizens of Pelican Town, they'll eventually have the option to date and marry their preferred NPC. That generally goes off without a hitch but when playing in co-op mode, some wires can be crossed, sparking chaos and drama that belongs on the set of a soap opera.
Over on Reddit, user sleep-deprived-thot recounted how playing with their mother and sister resulted in a hilarious love triangle between the players and the long-haired poet Elliot. They write:
I got to ten hearts with Elliott and gave him the Mermaid's Pendant. Eventually, he asked to have a baby. A few days later, he let me know that he would be gone for a work trip for however many days.
At this point, my mom had ALSO gotten ten hearts with him. She went to the beach and guess what… he took my mother out on a boat and kissed her. While i was pregnant and he was allegedly on a «work trip.»
While this scenario is a dramatic piece of storytelling given that expressly only allows players to marry one person at a time (there's even a secret cutscene if Farmers are caught dating multiple NPCs), it's likely just an issue with how the game is instanced. Heart Events haven't been coded to lock after one player earns them, meaning others can also experience them if they level up a character's friendship level.
The post regarding Elliot's infidelity prompted many other players to recount their dramas, most of which are simply results of the aforementioned Heart Events not being tied to a single player. User mothmomdotcom described how they once found Shane drunk and depressed in the woods before he was meant to marry their co-op buddy the next day only for the NPC later ask that they not tell a soul about the event. Another player recounted how Leah drops hints that they should get together even though the NPC is already married to the user's husband.
While these fun instances are simply glitches in the game's code, they are an excellent form of emergent storytelling that allows players to create their own narratives within the structure of the game. Traditionally, marriages are fairly limited, an aspect of the game that was recently overhauled thanks to the 1.6 Update. Reading this kind of drama into the world is a fun way of adding some extra spice to the wholesome farming RPG.
This isn't to say that doesn't have a decent amount of drama already. Pelican Town's residents have plenty of secrets such as Mayor Lewis and Marnie's secret relationship or blacksmith Clint becoming jealous of the player if Emily shows them too much affection.

One Stardew Valley player has found a clever place to build a «secret lounge» in Pelican Town. While Stardew Valley allows players to place objects almost anywhere in the town, one area that seems to be overlooked by many players is the tunnel next to the bus stop, where this secret lounge resides.
is already filled with ways to spend some quality time with Pelican Town's residents but an updated version of a beloved mod now ensures that the spark of love isn't lost after marriage in the latest 1.6 Update. One of the more common complaints regarding the romantic system in ConcernedApe's farming RPG is that once players settle down with a spouse, their selected character loses a great deal of their personality, becoming almost a mindless robot that just hands around the property. While the latest patch fixes that, this revamped mod makes it even better.
A creative Stardew Valley fan has combined their passion for the indie game and art by creating two impressive real-life dioramas: one of the Wizard’s Tower and the other of the Abandoned House of the “Hat Mouse.” Thanks to the popularity of Stardew Valley, fans create artwork based on Pelican Town and its residents regularly. However, these recently shared dioramas are notable for their immense detail packed into relatively small models.
The release of Stardew Valley Update 1.6 introduced a number of new crops, including carrots, which one player discovered could be used to feed horses for a speed boost. Developer Eric «ConcernedApe» Barone included a number of major changes and minor fixes in Stardew Valley Update 1.6, with more patches on the way, and fans have been sharing a number of surprise discoveries from the new content additions.

A fan of Stardew Valley and The Sims has recreated three of the farming title's bachelorettes within The Sims 4. The recreations are impressive and are just one way that fans of Stardew Valley show appreciation for the game outside of the scope of it.
The Rabbit's Foot in can be acquired in a few ways and has many uses once you get your hands on it. You can give it as a gift to NPCs around the valley, submit it for a bundle in the Community Center, and trigger a secret cutscene. Getting a Rabbit's Foot is hard, though, as it is a Rare drop or requires you to progress several in-game months.
An upcoming game with strong Stardew Valley vibes called SunnySide has recently released a demo on Steam and unveiled its official release date. SunnySide is an upcoming 3D life sim game set in the Japanese countryside and may appease Stardew Valley fans looking for a new experience.
may have just received one of its biggest content drops in the form of the 1.6 Update but the fun isn't ending there as ConcernedApe announces that another patch is on the way. Having launched in 2016, has proven to be a resounding success for its creator in no small part due to his work in maintaining the game with extensive post-launch support. The dedication and love ConcernedApe has shown to the farming RPG and its massive community has prompted many to question whether he ever takes any time off.
Given how many characters one can meet in , those who might struggle to make friends will want to check out a new mod that makes the process easier but no less rewarding. While it may not appear like it at first glance, ConcernedApe's farming RPG has some exceptional story moments that go a long way to grounding players within Pelican Town, bringing villages' denizens to life. These «Heart Events» take plenty of time and effort to see and only occur once in a playthrough, so players need to be confident in their responses.
Haley may already be one of the most high-maintenance characters of butfollowing the launch of the 1.6 Update, players are discovering that she's even more persistent than usual. Over the course of their time in Pelican Town, Farmers have the opportunity to date and eventually marry several romanceable NPCs, a process that has been greatly expanded upon in the latest patch. While most of the characters are fairly relaxed about when players finally pop the question, Haley is apparently unpleased if the courting process takes too long.
