According to a reliable movie insider, a live-action Jak and Daxter movie is reportedly in the works at Sony with Tom Holland set to star as Jak and Chris Pratt seemingly voicing Daxter.
Ever since Naughty Dog moved away from its platformer roots and towards more serious games like Uncharted and The Last of Us, PlayStation fans have been begging for Jak and Daxter to make their long-awaited return with a new game or remake of some kind. Well, one of you must have wished on a monkey's paw or something, as it's being reported that the duo are making a return... in a live-action movie.

This report comes courtesy of Twitter user and movie insider MyTimeToShineHello, who has previously shared leaks and insider info on Marvel, Scream, and other big movies. Yesterday, they tweeted that they've heard a live-action Jak and Daxter movie is in the works at Sony that's being directed by Ruben Fleischer and set to star Tom Holland as Jak and Chris Pratt as Daxter.
They said, "Tom Holland to play Jak, Chris Pratt eyed to voice Daxter in live action Jak and Daxter movie from Sony directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom, Uncharted)".
Funnily enough, even though this almost seems too ridiculous to be true, this isn't the first time that we've heard about a Jak and Daxter movie adaptation being in the works. As reported by Eurogamer back in 2022, Ruben Fleischer actually mentioned the project while promoting Uncharted, saying, "I'm actually working on Jak and Daxter, a version of that, for PlayStation, which I think would be really cool to bring to life".
This initial announcement came directly after Tom Holland noted that he'd love to play Jak in a "really weird and dark" adaptation of the games, something that now seems to be at least half-true. Whether that was a bit of teasing from Holland at the time or a comment that then led to him getting the role isn't clear, but it certainly adds evidence to the scoop being true.
On the face of it, a live-action Jak and Daxter movie almost seems too ridiculous to be true considering we haven't even had a game since The Lost Frontier on PSP, but things are certainly lining up for it to end up being true. Ignoring the big meme that is Chris Pratt playing another gaming character after Mario, it's going to be especially confusing seeing Holland play the lead role in another live-action Sony property when he's also the lead in Uncharted. Guess we're not getting a PlayStation All-Stars movie anytime soon, huh?
