The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 launch is yet to start, and we have already started stumbling across Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 rumors. Earlier, we reported that Qualcomm requested TSMC and Samsung for their 2nm chip samples, presumably for vetting purposes to see if one or both can be a fit for future cutting-edge chipset orders. Now, we have learned that while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 may share the same CPU cluster, the latter is said to feature new ‘Pegasus’ CPU cores.
Qualcomm to retain the same ‘Slice’ GPU architecture for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5; may stick with TSMC’s N3E process
The first tidbits surrounding the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5’s CPU cluster were shared by @For_Ataraxia, who states that where the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will feature custom Phoenix cores, its successor should arrive with Pegasus cores, which, judging by the name change, will be better. However, both SoCs are said to retain the same ‘2 + 6’ CPU cluster, but Qualcomm will pursue an approach followed by MediaTek when it launched the Dimensity 9300.
Related Story Qualcomm Has Reportedly Requested Samsung, TSMC, For 2nm Chip Samples As It Aims To Adopt A Dual-Sourcing Strategy For Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s CPU configuration is said to comprise up of performance cores only, with an earlier rumor claiming that the SoC was tested with a 4.00GHz frequency. The clock speeds of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 were not shared in any rumor, though it is likely that Qualcomm will only use performance cores for this chipset too. There is another claim stating that both custom silicon will sport the same Slice GPU architecture.
However, it is unconfirmed whether the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s Adreno 830 will be re-purposed for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 or it will sport an entirely new graphics processor. One surprising aspect of this rumor is that the tipster mentions that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will take advantage of Samsung’s 2nm process, also known as SF2, but somehow, TSMC’s ‘N3E’ process will remain unchanged.
Since it is too early to dive deep into these claims, we have to wait for more updates to provide an impartial overview of a Qualcomm SoC that will be unveiled in 2025. For now, we will remain focused on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, so check out our detailed rumor roundup of Qualcomm’s first 3nm SoC, and as always, we will provide updates on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in due time.

The new Cortex-X5 design from ARM appears to be running into problems, with a new rumor stating that the super core is experiencing severely high power consumption at raised clock speeds and offering diminished multi-core performance when that maximum power limit is reduced. While this may not be an issue for Qualcomm as its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is said to adopt custom CPU designs, MediaTek may be sweating profusely as it has to eventually announce the Dimensity 9400, which is said to adopt the same Cortex-X5 in its CPU cluster.
Until Dawn is back in the spotlight as the recent announcement of a movie adaptation and a PS5 remake have reawakened many fans' love for the horror title. With excitement for Until Dawn reignited, a new leak suggests that there will be additional content added in the remake, at least for one character.
The Galaxy Ring might officially take shape during the second half of 2024, assuming the latest report’s information turns out to be legit. Typically, Samsung hosts a second Galaxy Unpacked event in July or August, but the new rumor also says that the wearable will not just be unveiled early but also come in different sizes to accommodate a bigger customer base. In short, Samsung appears to be going ‘all in’ in this new category, with earlier reports stating that various health features will be integrated into this device to make it a more appealing purchase.
An earlier rumor was disseminating information that Apple had halted work on its foldable iPhone because there were durability concerns regarding the display. Now, a new update claims that the technology giant is actively developing the device and has actually reassigned some key personnel hailing from the Apple Vision Pro team to work on this new form factor.
The Kirin 9000S chipset was the first stepping stone that would enable Huawei to stop relying on foreign technologies, but it has been a tough road, especially with the U.S. trade sanctions breathing down on the former Chinese giant’s neck. The company is rumored to want to make its Mate 60 series more accessible to customers from a pricing perspective, and with the P70 launch in tow, that would be the ideal move to make. However, a tipster states that unless Kirin 9000S production picks up, that will not be possible.
A fan-favorite NPC from may have just been teased as an upcoming playable character, as was suggested by a post made by developer HoYoverse. The popular RPG has a continuously expanding roster of playable heroes that are gradually added through updates. Some of these characters are introduced as soon as they appear in story content, while others first appear as NPCs and are then transformed into playable characters in subsequent versions. This is the case with Chiori’s release in 4.5. The 5-star Geo unit first made her debut as an NPC in Version 4.3.
It was previously reported that Apple is planning to introduce AI-related features with the launch of iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 lineup. The company is currently working on various AI tools which could debut at the WWDC 2024 event in June. Prominent analyst Jeff Pu also stated that the iPhone 16 will be the company's first device to boast AI features coupled with iOS 18. It is now rumored that the iPhone 16 lineup will feature a significantly upgraded Neural Engine for generative AI features coming with iOS 18.
The Snapdragon X Elite is closer to its official release, as Qualcomm CEO Christiano Amon stated during the San Diego firm’s earnings call that its new chipset is tailor-made for Windows laptops and will arrive in mid-2024. This essentially means that Apple and its M-series of custom silicon will have a new competitor to worry about, and according to earlier benchmarks, we have seen some impressive performance numbers.
According to new 4.5 leaks, it seems like Chiori may be just as bad a playable character as Dehya was when she first arrived in Version 3.5. Chiori is a Geo character that has been introduced as an NPC with the Roses and Muskets event in Version 4.3. Chiori’s release in as a playable unit, however, has already been confirmed for Version 4.5, and there are several leaks about how her gameplay kit will function. Rumors point to her being a Geo sub-DPS unit with some supporting capabilities.
Google’s previous Tensor chipsets powering the company’s Pixel lineup of smartphones and, just recently, a tablet, are, in one way or another, based on Samsung’s previous Exynos SoC launches. The Tensor G3’s unique 9-core CPU cluster was likely based on the Korean giant’s unreleased Exynos 2300, so it would be completely fine to assume that the upcoming Tensor G4 would have some relation with the Exynos 2400. Unfortunately, the specification differences do not give us confidence in this claim, even though one tipster believes it.
