A gamer has found and shared a letter addressed to their mother requesting their own copy of the Sims 2, and the composition is just as funny as it is wholesome. The Sims 4 is the latest entry in the franchise, and it was released nearly a decade ago. Save files are a big deal in The Sims, as they allow gamers to make as many worlds as they would like without the risk of interfering with other playable households. Streamers and active members of the community even tend to share their Sims 4 save files with other fans online. However, this hasn't always been possible. In The Sims 2 era, players could control other households in each neighborhood, but they couldn't create multiple save files. This meant that if another player wanted to use the game, they wouldn't be able to play in a separate save file — they would always have to use the active file.
Reddit user gballerio shared a picture of a letter they wrote their mother when they were younger, and it discusses this same issue. The purpose of the letter is to convince the mother to get them their own copy of The Sims 2, so Grace, the OP, didn't have to use her sisters' copies of the game, as it seems they were too restrictive. According to the letter, both of Grace's sisters owned The Sims 2. However, one of them didn't allow Grace to visit other neighborhoods, and OP suspected that she would snoop as well. The other sister only gave Grace permission to create one household with a maximum of four Sims. On top of this, they could only play once a week, and if Grace ever contradicted their sister, she would kill all of their Sims «slowly».
In the comments section, fans were quite curious to know what happened after Grace handed her mother the letter. OP quickly replied and revealed that they were successful and were able to convince the mom to get another copy of The Sims 2, the best Sims game for many fans of the franchise.
It is technically possible for players to make separate save files in The Sims 2, but it's not practical at all, as it requires changing information in the game files every time gamers want to switch. Thankfully, the next Sims games included the save file feature, but this is undoubtedly a great reminder of basic quality of life features that weren't as common in older video games.
