New Kits announced for have fans scratching their heads, wondering why Electronic Arts doesn't refresh previous DLC releases instead. Fans of series are no strangers to disappointing updates and kits, but the most recent announcement is an interesting choice for the team to make. With the addition of a new shopping cart button while in-game, blatantly encourages players to buy more packs, and fans are becoming more and moreconcerned with the quantity of the paid DLC over the quality of it.
The Kits, officially announced by Electronic Arts after a leak hit the community earlier, are called and and include a few items for Create-A-Sim (CAS) and for Build Mode. Many players are asking why the team at Maxis decided to make these new items only available behind a paywall. Reddit users wondered why they didn't opt to refresh an existing pack, or just include these diverse items in a free update, instead of making players pay for a few items.
On X (formerly Twitter), misc3ne noted that Maxis could have easily added the items in to the already available pack, especially since the items fit the aesthetic already and there are very few items in both the new kit and the existing pack.
The kit is a partnership with Ebonix, who is responsible for the most recent diversity update in the Create-A-Sim, and dives into more of an 80s, 90s, and early 00s aesthetic with bright colors and more diverse options for nails, clothes, and headpieces. These items, while some are unique, do have a few pieces of clothing that look like they already existed in-game.
Some of the other items might have been better suited to be included as a free update, especially the new headwrap. Fans were definitely hoping to see more out of these new Kits, and the upset fans bring up a good point questioning why certain items are included as free updates and others are hidden behind a paywall. Each of the Kits are $4.99 USD, but between the two there are only around 50 items and some look similar to existing CAS and Build Mode items.
Other players are calling out how boring the items are, noting that theyfeel lackluster and somewhat pointless, considering the other more fun decorations that already exist. There is a big difference between the quality of the packs Maxis has been outputting over the last few Kits and fans are realizing how much the total cost of paid content has become. Hopefully, with the community making its opinions known, EA and Maxis will listen and cut back on the paid DLC moving forward for both and future projects.
