At one crucial moment in , players can choose to defend one of two locations from simultaneous attacks: The Lodge or The Eye. The Lodge is Constellation's headquarters, a shuttered, overgrown house located in the city of New Atlantis on Jemison. It's where the player character first met the members of Constellation, joined their first faction in , and watched much of the plot unfold. The Eye is Constellation's primary space station, where many of its most important research and surveying operations take place. The player character has powerful memories linking them to both, but what's more important is which characters are in each location.

After finishing the story quest "," which involves stealing one of the Artifacts in from an exacting collector, the player character returns to The Lodge triumphant and starts "." However, there's a sudden distress call from The Eye — it's under attack. Just then, banging can be heard outside The Lodge, and it becomes clear that someone's out to get Constellation. The quest's name and setup should provide a pretty clear idea of what's to come, but a number of different factors can affect how it all plays out.
If they decide to stay at The Lodge, the player character is first asked to make sure Walter's alright in his office upstairs. When they arrive, The Hunter appears. He's one of the most formidable characters in the game, and also one of the most mysterious. Like Constellation, he wants access to the Artifacts, but unlike the explorer's consortium, he only wants to collect them for his own devious purposes. The Hunter knocks out Walter, then turns his attention to the player character. They'll have to draw his fire while the rest of Constellation escapes through a secret sewer passage in the basement.
It's a tough fight. The Hunter uses Unmitigated Violence, a unique rifle, as well as heavy armor. He has access to many of the same abilities the player character gains from collecting Artifacts, and can create duplicates of himself to deal extra damage and confuse their aim. However, The Hunter's story doesn't end here. After all, he has a leading role to play in 's ending.
The player character doesn't have to kill The Hunter, just wear down his HP and survive long enough to get the all-clear from the rest of Constellation's members. Then, they can run through the sewers, into The Well, and finally out onto the landing pads of New Atlantis' Spaceport. The Hunter will give chase the whole way, but the player character will ultimately board their ship to find everyone from The Lodge waiting safely aboard. However, they still have to check on The Eye.
