Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced the release of a Sand Land demo available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. The demo offers players a glimpse into the Sand Land world ahead of its full release on April 26, 2024.
Sand Land is an upcoming action role-playing video game published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, based on the Japanese manga series created by Akira Toriyama. The game follows the journey of protagonists Beelzebub, Rao, Ann, and Thief as they traverse the desert in search of a Legendary Spring. Gameplay includes third-person perspective combat, with light and heavy attacks, dodging mechanics, and character progression through unlocking skills and abilities. Additionally, players can utilize various vehicles for traversal and combat, customize their basecamp in the city of Spino, engage in side activities like racing and bounty hunting, and interact with non-playable characters for rare components and services.
Bandai Namco Entertainment also released a 1-minute trailer revealing the Sand Land demo, showcasing various scenarios and vehicles, hinting at the diverse landscapes and challenges that await players in the full game. From combat encounters to vehicle sequences, the demo offers a glimpse into the Borderlands and Dragon Quest-inspired-style world of Sand Land.
Sand Land stands as one of Akira Toriyama's final projects before his passing on March 1, 2024. Along the way, players will encounter a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique stories and motivations. In terms of gameplay, Sand Land promises a heavy emphasis on exploration, combat, and vehicle customization. Players will have to construct and command a variety of vehicles, ranging from Battle Tanks to nimble Motorbikes, each fully customizable with a range of parts and upgrades.
Additionally, Sand Land features a base-building mechanic, allowing players to establish and expand their own basecamp in the city of Spino. Here, players can forge alliances, unlock new resources, and uncover hidden secrets that will aid them on their journey through the desert sands.
Sand Land’s manga is set in a post-apocalyptic world covered mostly in sand, where water is a scarce and precious resource controlled by a king. The protagonist embarks on a quest to find a new source of water to save their village. The manga explores themes of environmentalism, friendship, and adventure. As the release date approaches, fans of the original manga might be eager to immerse themselves in Sand Land’s interactive video game world.

Square Enix has released a free demo for SaGa Emerald Beyond, the next mainline title in the unorthodox role-playing game series. It’s available for PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch, allowing players to control Tsunanori Mido, one of six playable characters. Check out the release trailer below.
Sand Land, the open world adaptation of Akira Toriyama's standalone manga, has real potential. And honestly, that surprised us, because we had this game (perhaps unfairly) tagged as another somewhat underwhelming Bandai Namco tie-in. But now, having played through several hours of the adventure ourselves, we think this could be one of the publisher's best projects in years.
2024 has become a year of equally joyous and tragic significance for fans of Akira Toriyama. Earlier last month, the TV anime adaptation of the late mangaka’s 2000 sci-fi comedy manga Sand Land premiered on streaming, just a few weeks after Toriyama’s passing at the age of 68.
Sand Land will come out on April 25 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The RPG, from the creator of Dragon Ball, is set in a world where water is severely limited. You play as Prince Beelzebub and build vehicles to trek the desert world, with the goal of finding The Legendary Spring’s water to hydrate Sand Land. Preorders are now available (see it on Amazon).
Keeping track of all the latest video games coming out is an increasingly complex task, what with multiple PC storefronts, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, mobile, and more to keep track of, but don’t worry, I’m here to help. There's been a lot of chatter about this Stellar Blade demo recently. First, it was released accidentally, and although Sony took it back down pretty quickly, it wasn't fast enough to stop a few people playing and sharing footage online. So, we knew a demo was coming, and it wasn't much later that we got official confirmation. Now, the time has come: it's available to download and play right now on PS5. Those in the US can click here, and it's here for UK readers.
Earlier this month, the world lost a one-of-a-kind creative talent with the news of Akira Toriyama’s passing. While Dragon Ball will always be Toriyama-sensei’s best-known work, he leaves behind a legacy full of many other imaginative worlds across games, anime, and manga. Before leaving us, he worked with Bandai Namco to flesh out one of his short manga creations further: Sand Land. Alongside a new anime series, Toriyama-sensei gave input on a videogame adaptation of Sand Land that would allow players to explore this unique world for themselves.
is a compelling mixture of and from the mind of Akira Toriyama. After some hands-on time with the upcoming game in a surprisingly lush new section of the huge map, developer ILCA and Bandai Namco seem prepared to honor the late author's legacy with an adventure that captures 's charm and style.
Shortly after the untimely news of Akira Toriyama’s passing, Wccftech was invited to visit Bandai Namco’s California campus for one of the last hands-on opportunities before Sand Land’s launch next April. In a more in-depth experience than last year’s Summer Game Fest, we were invited out to freely explore the first couple of chapters of this open-world adventure.
Sand Land, the new Hulu/Disney Plus anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s other big manga, is gaining the attention of critics – with one calling it a "final masterpiece" from the late Dragon Ball creator, who died in early March.
