PlayStation may be preparing to host a new State of Play presentation next week on January 31, with leaks suggesting that various new game announcements will be made. If the rumors hold true, PlayStation fans can expect new details about new PS5 titles launching in 2024 and beyond, such as Rise of the Ronin, Death Stranding 2, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
The previous State of Play event was held this past September with a focus on smaller PS5 games, indie titles, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which was released the following month on October 26, 2023. Although Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was a highly anticipated game at the time, many PlayStation fans still wanted to learn more about new games launching through 2024. Fortunately, a new State of Play presentation may bring clarity about the upcoming slate of major PS5 titles from third-parties in 2024.
XboxEra co-founder Nick Baker shared a riddle on Twitter regarding the next State of Play presentation, revealing that the live stream will air on or around January 31. The January 31 State of Play will supposedly showcase Rise of the Ronin, Death Stranding 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, and Ken Levine's new game Judas. Baker's tweet also teases that various unannounced games will be highlighted soon at the January 31 State of Play, including a new Sonic Generations remaster and a new Metro game. Despite the lack of an official announcement from PlayStation, gamers are excited and speculating about the trailers and game announcements that could soon arrive.
Some users speculate that the Death Stranding movie could be shown at State of Play alongside Death Stranding 2. Moreover, some gamers, including Xbox Two podcast host Rand al Thor 19, believe an Until Dawn remaster will be revealed at the January 31 State of Play presentation as well. The remaster's release could potentially coincide with the new Until Dawn movie adaptation.
Excitement and speculation continues to mount on Twitter, as many PlayStation fans eagerly await the new game reveals and updates for PlayStation's biggest games in 2024. If a new State of Play is planned for January 31, fans likely won't need to wait much longer for the official announcement. Typically, Sony tends to host at least three to four State of Play showcases per year, so the subsequent event could fall sometime in spring 2024.
