Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies fans have received some bad news as a reputable leaker claimed that Treyarch doesn’t plan on adding additional enemy types or perks to the popular game mode. Many Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players were left feeling disappointed by the leak, citing the lost potential of MW3’s open-world Zombie mode.
When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launched in November last year, fans were excited to delve into the game’s Zombie mode, which was touted as one of the franchise’s most ambitious Zombies experiences yet. A PvE-focused open-world game mode featuring a maximum of 24 players, complemented by an intricate story that follows the consequences of Viktor Zakhaev’s actions, all sounded like a unique and compelling take on the Zombies formula when the game was first released. While at first, many players enjoyed engaging in deadly combat against blood-thirsty undead creatures, some thought the Zombies mode could have the potential for more quality-of-life changes and additional content.
A popular Call of Duty content creator and dataminer going by the name of MRDalekJD has made a post on Twitter where he claimed that Treyarch has confirmed in a Season 2 Creator Call event that there are no plans to add any new enemies or perks to MWZ at any point in time. Many Zombies fans were dismayed after hearing the unfortunate rumors. While MWZ has had some interesting content updates in the past, it is disheartening for some players to believe that the beloved mode could be pretty much abandoned in the future.
Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has recently arrived, and it seems like it will feature the final content update for the Zombies mode. A fair number of Zombies enthusiasts are not happy with Season 2 as it does not have any new content for MWZ at launch. However, Call of Duty revealed that in a mid-season update, MWZ will receive an additional story mission and dark aether rift, alongside some extra schematics, and one new formidable warlord.
Until the promised Zombies mode updates arrive, Modern Warfare 3 players can enjoy some of the other content introduced in Season 2. This includes new maps, modes, weapons, and the exciting inclusion of some iconic characters from AMC’s The Walking Dead in the form of Operators.
Treyarch is supposedly working on another entry in the Black Ops franchise which is rumored to be set during the Gulf War. It is believed that the game will also feature another iteration of Zombies mode.
