Report: Embracer's era of self-sufficiency begins with the closure of Campfire Cabal

With all the news and discourse going on around Call of Duty Modern Warfare III, there’s a new rumor suggesting that this game isn’t what everyone seems to think it is.

Earlier this year, Swedish company Embracer Group saw a deal fall through to the tune of $2 billion USD, something that caused its stock to plummet back in May. Now, thanks to a new Axios report, we know more about exactly who that deal was supposed to be with a Saudi Arabia-backed investment group.

To The Core is, to borrow its Steam description, "an incremental game about extracting and using resources from planets to buy upgrades." That's pretty much it. I've played it for eight hours since buying it yesterday, hooked by a progression curve that takes you from an ineffectual mining ship chipping at a single planet's rocky surface until you explode, to the leader of a swarm of bomb-dropping drones and aerial bombardment lasers that can travel a solar system and devour any planet to its core in seconds.

When you reach the final battle against Moonrise Tower in Baldur’s Gate 3, Jaheira will go on ahead of you to take the battle to the Absolute cultists. She and her harpers carved a path through the first line of defense, but they need to secure the tower. Before you head up to battle against Ketheric Thorm, there’s a chance to ask if Jaheira wants to join you in this fight.

Another crossover event is now live for Fortnite, this time being “Break the Curse” which is inspired by the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. It includes in-game themed content such as offensive techniques, purchasable cosmetics in the item store, and two event passes for more rewards. The Break the Curse event runs until August 25 at 2 AM ET, so there’s plenty of time to jump in to experience and earn everything before the Chapter 4 Season 3 Wilds season ends.
