With Nintendo allegedly gearing up to reveal its next-generation console (and release it later in the year), first-party support for Switch is bound to continue slowing down, though we do still have some notable releases lined up. For instance, Princess Peach: Showtime! is out a little over a month from now, and though details about the game’s development are bafflingly scant – as is often the case with Nintendo titles – one particularly notable tidbit has seemingly emerged.
As shared by Twitter user @Akfamilyhome, it looks like Princess Peach: Showtime! has been developed using Unreal Engine, with the engine’s logo visible on the back of a display box for the game that was reportedly spotted in China.
If true, this would make Princess Peach: Showtime! the third first-party Nintendo title to use Epic Games’ development toolset, after 2019’s Yoshi’s Crafted World and 2023’s Pikmin 4. Nintendo itself, however, has yet to confirm what engine has been used to develop the game (or even what studio has developed it).
Princess Peach: Showtime! launches on March 22 for the Switch.

Once again Peach takes to the stage as the hero of her own tale, and this time there are no tears or tantrums to be seen! Ahead of its release on 22nd March, I had the immense pleasure of going hands on with a few levels from Princess Peach: Showtime!
Throughout her illustrious career as gaming royalty, Princess Peach has been a jack-of-all-trades. She’s tossed turnips, driven karts, smashed tennis balls, and knocked the snot out of Solid Snake. Despite that impressive résumé, she’s rarely had the chance to be a leading lady outside of 2005’s Super Princess Peach. It was a polarizing release that failed to lock down the heroine’s identity. What could Peach be if she wasn’t attached to Mario?
Nintendo is set to make a bit of history withPrincess Peach: Showtime! on March 22. The upcoming Switch release gives gaming’s most iconic female character her own solo adventure for the first time since 2005’s critically dissected Super Princess Peach. It’s a dream moment for players who’ve spent the last two decades wishing Peach would get another shot as a leading lady.
For the first time in nearly two decades, Princess Peach is starring in her own game. Her new adventure has a familiar-feeling Super Mario-style set up, though: There’s been a kidnapping, and it’s up to a hero from the Mushroom Kingdom to save the day.
Boasting a dedicated fandom, the Shrek movies have been recreated in a number of video games, with one creative group now showcasing a trailer for what an open world Shrek game would look like in Unreal Engine 5. Fans have frequently recreated the iconic characters and locations fromShrekin Animal Crossing and other popular titles, but this short trailer gives audiences a glimpse at the potential of an Unreal production starring the green ogre.
The latest trailer for Princess Peach: Showtime is out, and with it comes four new transformations that its titular heroine will be able to utilize. While Princess Peach usually plays a supporting role in Mario’s adventures, Nintendo announced that the monarch of the Mushroom Kingdom would be stepping into the spotlight in her own video game. Princess Peach: Showtime tasks Peach with saving the Sparkle Theater from the Wicked Grape and the Sour Bunch, using a variety of special costumed transformations and assistance from the theater’s guardian, Stella.
Nintendo last treated us with a performance from the Mushroom Kingdom’s Princess a few weeks ago in its first transformation trailer for Princess Peach: Showtime! Today, it’s time for Act II.
