A Pokemon fan has shared an idea on how the Pokemon Home app and Pokemon games could come together, which would make the experience much more convenient. Pokemon Home's functions are appreciated by players, but actually using the system could be streamlined.
Pokemon Home is an app on the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices that can be utilized to transfer Pokemon from one game to another. To use Pokemon Home with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it's necessary to install it as a separate app on the Switch. From there, players can start it up, look at the list of Pokemon available to transfer, and then execute it. However, one player has pointed out how changing this system to better integrate it into the games could improve the experience.
Pokemon player NeoSeth shared their idea to integrate Pokemon Home into the Pokemon PCs that were present in the older games. Pokemon PCs have become largely unnecessary at this point, as NeoSeth points out, because many of their functions have been integrated into the game's basic menu. For example, players no longer need to use a Pokemon PC to access their Pokemon storage boxes and transfer Pokemon to and from them. Unfortunately, the same ease of use isn't the case with Pokemon Home.
Due to how the Nintendo Switch works, it's not possible to simply open up Pokemon Home while leaving Scarlet or Violet running in the background, or vice versa. Only one program can run at a time on the Switch, so players have to completely shut down one program to start another. While it doesn't take an excessively long time to boot Pokemon Scarlet and Violet up again after the fact, it's an obstacle that could be avoided entirely in future games if the PC was brought back with Pokemon Home integrated into it.
NeoSeth did note that there could be some potential hiccups to integrating the two systems, like opening the door to potential Pokemon duplication exploits. However, the developer could likely put safeguards in place for problems like this and take action if an exploit were discovered. However, the removal of the PC hasn't stopped exploits from appearing, so bringing it back wouldn't necessarily make a big difference in that regard.
While this suggestion may not be implemented by Game Freak, it could be one step the company could take to help streamline future titles. Fans will be expecting a lot from Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and with many fans already having large rosters of Pokemon available to them from Scarlet and Violet and other Nintendo Switch Pokemon games, it could be the right time to make transferring them much more convenient.
