Pokemon GO developer Niantic has released a new code that unlocks bonus Timed Research culminating in an encounter with Captain Pikachu, as seen in the Pokemon Horizons anime series. Pokemon GO often features crossover events with other Pokemon media, and with Pokemon Horizons finally making its US debut on Netflix, it makes sense that Niantic is capitalizing on the hype.
Pokemon Horizons is the latest Pokemon anime series. It boldly replaces Ash Ketchum and Pikachu from the original series with a new set of characters, though it does feature a new Pikachu companion in the form of Captain Pikachu. Now Pokemon GO players have the chance to encounter Captain Pikachu for themselves and add yet another special Pikachu variant to their collection of creatures.
Anyone interested needs to navigate to the Pokemon GO Offer Redemption site, sign in to their account, and then input the code CAPTAINPIKACHU. After successfully redeeming the code, Pokemon GO players can pop back into their game and check out the new Captain Pikachu's Bonus TImed Research, which ends in roughly five days. Pokemon GO players have to complete three tasks to unlock the Captain Pikachu encounter: explore 3 km, catch 20 Pokemon, and spin 10 PokeStops or Gyms.
Shiny hunters may be curious if there's a chance that they can add a shiny Captain Pikachu to their collection. As it turns out, shiny Captain Pikachu does exist, though the odds of encountering one through this Bonus Timed Research is incredibly slim. Considering this, Pokemon GO fans really shouldn't hold their breath. However, some will get lucky and be able to add Shiny Captain Pikachu to their collection.
Captain Pikachu's Bonus Timed Research is just one Research quest that Pokemon GO players are tackling right now. Those that decided to spring for the Wonder Ticket have a 3-part quest to complete, while everyone has access to the World of Wonders Special Research quest. Pokemon GO players can look forward to more events throughout the World of Wonders season as they chip away at their various Research tasks.

Remember when Ark: Survival Evolved was announced to be getting an animated series with a star-studded cast including the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Russell Crowe, Elliot Page, David Tennant and Malcolm-bloody-McDowell? I sure didn’t! That was over three years ago during the heights of a worldwide pandemic, though, so I think we can forgive ourselves a little. Anyway, Ark: The Animated Series has now arrived out of the blue, dropping its first six episodes on streaming service Paramount+.
Numerous Pokemon GO players are debating how a simple change in the IV of Pokemon acquired through Special Research would improve these events. Although these Pokemon already have a floor IV that is moderately above average, Pokemon GO players who acquire a shiny mythical within these standard values feel as frustrated as if they hadn't acquired the Pokemon at all.
Genshin Impact has revealed a new combat-only event that gives out plenty of Primogem rewards. Occasionally, Genshin Impact brings combat-heavy events wherein players go into special areas and take on waves of enemies. A Pokemon fan artist took to social media to post some artwork of the Ghost Pokemon Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar in the style of rubberhose cartoons from the 1930s, each having distinct features that are different from their normal styles. The Pokemon fan artist received compliments from other trainers for their efforts and creativity in making each Pokemon design stand out.
There are several rewards to unlock by participating in the Plunderstorm battle royale, but what happens when you win? While a pre-release interview with PCGamer noted exclusive cosmetic rewards for those who take first place, players don't need to worry about missing items from their collections tab. It's true that winning a Plunderstorm battle royale match by being the last player standing will award a special tabard and eyepatch, but unlike the Keg Leg's Crew Renown Rewards, these cosmetics and the associated First Rate Mate buff are only applied to your Plunderstorm pirate — both of which only last through the next match. Squishei and Portergauge are honored first mates… until someone else takes the title! Instead, players will unlock an identical Plunderlord's Monocle at Renown 38 and Plunderlord's Tabard at Renown 40 for use on their main account. That doesn't mean winning is pointless though, as the last player standing will also take home the exclusive Plunder Wonder Feat of Strength achievement; thereby celebrating match winners without blocking access to any of the cosmetic rewards!
A Pokemon GO player has used a coveted Master Ball on a shiny Kyogre to match the Pokemon's aesthetic. Legendary Pokemon have been a prominent feature in Pokemon GO Raids since they were released, and this player decided to commemorate a Raid with their Master Ball.

Pokemon GO players have expressed their disappointment with the game's upcoming Verdant Wonders Special Research event featuring the mythical Zarude. While most events, such as Weather Week in Pokemon GO that's happening just before Verdant Wonders, are regular instances that are free for all players to join, many have begun to notice that the game has been ramping up its pay-to-play side lately.
Pokémon Horizons: The Series, the latest season of the Pokémon anime and the first to star protagonists other than Ash Ketchum, has finally premiered in the U.S. via a 12-episode drop on Netflix. It’s a big deal — Ash finally became the very best, and now we have to leave him behind. But the new Pokémon trainers are just the beginning.
The «Verdant Wonders» event is coming soon in Pokemon GO with new paid Special Research and the exclusive «Rogue Monkey» Pokemon, Zarude. Like a majority of Pokemon GO events, players will have a short window to purchase the new Special Research and take advantage of exclusive bonuses, such as additional encounters and reward drops.
A well-known feature of, and any other game, is the fun of trading with friends. This can be one of the best ways to engage with friends and family members, or even meet new people while enjoying a shared hobby. Whether at community events, discussing on social media, or just happening upon another trainer out in the world, being able to share a Pokémon with someone can help form a connection. Some Pokémon can only be found in certain locations, so trading with friends who have traveled to other areas can also help complete a Pokédex.
