A talented Pokemon fan and artist is sharing their latest artwork, which features a Generation 1 classic Pokemon in Cubone. While the Pokemon fandom has proven to be able to create fan art in a wide variety of mediums, this fan in particular uses a medium that is rather peculiar: bike chains.
A Ground-type around since the inception of the Pokemon franchise, Cubone is one of the more iconic of the original 151 Pokemon, easily recognizable by the skull of its dead mother which it wears like a helmet, never taking it off. Because Cubone's true face has never actually been seen in canon, Pokemon fans have recently been divided on the theory that Cubone is really a Charmander or a baby Kangaskhan, with both sides bringing forth supporting evidence to make their case.
The impressive Cubone model made out of a bike chain comes from a Reddit user aptly named PokeWelder-Zach, who posted their creation to one of the site's primary Pokemon forums. The artist and welder is able to capture all of Cubone's defining features, including its skull and its bone weapon. In addition to being painted with accurate coloring, the artist added several small touches which greatly helped in adding detail, including painting cracks and the nose holes of the skull, as well as bending out the ends of the bike chain link Cubone's holding to look more like a bone.
The post shows the bike chain model of Cubone from both sides, along with what appear to be several other Pokemon bike chain models in the background. The artist is quite the prolific welder, having made many other Pokemon in the same way prior to Cubone. The artist made well over a dozen different Pokemon models out of bike chains last year, including fan-favorites such as Snorlax, Metagross, Dragonite, and many more.
In addition to being created from bike chains, fans have made Cubone models with other unusual twists, including one Pokemon fan that modeled Cubone as a rubber duck. A friend's birthday gift, this fan created a classic rubber duck profile and gave it Cubone's features, creating a seriously adorable outcome. While vastly different from the bike chain model above, the two art pieces show the breadth of creativity present in the Pokemon fandom.
While the bike chain Cubone's creator does mention they sell their creations in the comments section, fans looking for something more official can now get their very own proper Pokemon Cubone plush. However, it is a little depressing.

One artistic fan recently created an impressive square rug inspired by the Squirtle Squad from the Pokemon anime. In the original Pokemon Red and Blue, Squirtle was one of three Starter options that players could choose from at the very beginning of the game, but Ash Ketchum met his first Water-type partner differently in the long-running Pokemon TV series. There, Ash’s Squirtle was the leader of the Squirtle Squad, a group of abandoned Tiny Turtle Pokemon who went about causing mischief in the Kanto region.

However, these recently shared dioramas are notable for their immense detail packed into relatively small models.
An imaginative Pokemon fan recently put together a fake commercial for the ever-helpful Poke Mart Potions. The Pokemon franchise is largely centered around elementally empowered creatures battling one another, and injuries and lowered health meters are just part of the job for any aspiring Pokemon Trainer. If a Pokemon’s health is depleted completely, it faints and can no longer be used to battle until it is restored at the local Pokemon Center, but there are luckily several portable Pokemon items players can use to keep their critters in top fighting condition.
