Platinum Apple Arcade game World of Demons ends service

Free-to-play rhythm game Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE! will end service on March 31 for Japan and May 31 worldwide, Bushiroad announced (2).

Yoko Taro’s NieR series has been synonymous with live service crossovers since the release of NieR Automata. Everything from Final Fantasy XIV to Final Fantasy Brave Exvius has seen the likes of 2B make an appearance, so it’s tragically ironic that NieR’s own live service game, NieR Reincarnation, is closing its doors soon.

As a free-to-play mobile spinoff, NieR Re[in]carnation may not have been the new NieR entry that fans have been waiting for so long, but the game has enjoyed its fair share of success nonetheless. Following a launch in Japan in early 2021, it released in the West later that year, not long afterward, though it seems the game won’t be sticking around for much longer.

NieR Re[in]carnation will end service on April 29 at 10:00 p.m. PT / April 30 at 1:00 a.m. ET, publisher Square Enix and developer Applibot announced. The story will conclude with the release of “The People and the World Final Chapter” on March 28.

The director of Pocketpair’s open-world survival-crafting game Palworld has defended the game’s artists, and has asked people to stop sending them abuse and death threats. 

Popular K-drama aired its final episode 16 on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS. The episode was later available to stream on Netflix. The series follows the story of demon Jung Gu-Won (), who enters into a contract marriage with chaebol heiress Do Do-Hee (). While the two sign the contract for their own reasons, they end up falling in love amid a tragic past life connection.

Palworld was obviously destined for success the moment a million games journalists and Twitter users wrote “Pokémon with machine guns”. Having finally launched into Early Access on Steam and Game Pass this week, that prophecy has rung true as the monster-catching survival game has caught (ha, ha) so many players that its servers are struggling to handle the load.

Palworld's devs have bizarrely assured its community that it isn't a scam, and will definitely release later this week on January 19 for real.

GSC Game World said at Gamescom last year that after several delays, the long-awaited S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl would finally be releasing sometime in Q1 of 2024, but recently, the developer announced that the survival horror open world first-person shooter had been delayed once again, this time being pushed back to September.
