Phantom Spark launches this summer for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Switch, and PC

Publisher SOEDESCO and developers Indigo Studios and Grindstone have announced first-person horror adventure game Dollhouse: Behind the Broken Mirror for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam). It will launch in 2024.

Developer The Chinese Room has announced that its upcoming narrative horror title, Still Wakes the Deep, is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on June 18. The release date for the horror game was announced with a new trailer, which you can check out below.

Narrative adventure game Farewell North will launch for Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam on August 15, publisher Mooneye Studios and developer Kyle Banks announced.

Crazy Goat Games has announced Cthulhu-themed city builder Worshippers of Cthulhu for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. It will launch in Early Access for PC via Steam in Q2 / Q3 2024, followed by a full release across all platforms in Q1 2025.

Playdigious will publish Kimeria-developed connections-based logic puzzle game Linkito when it launches for PC via Steam this summer, the companies announced. A demo is available now.

Italian Soulslike action RPG Enotria: The Last Song will launch for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on August 21, developer Jyamma Games announced. A demo is coming soon. The previously announced Xbox Series version is no longer planned and will be reassessed post-launch.

Handmade stop motion-inspired adventure game Harold Halibut will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on April 16, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at a later date, developer Slow Bros. announced. It will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.

Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam in 2024, developer Grasshopper Manufacture announced. Wishlisting is available now via PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam.

Twin-stick shooter Blackout Protocol will leave Early Access and launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam next winter, developer Ocean Drive Studio announced. It also announced a shift in direction, from a “hardcore multiplayer shooter that treats single-player as an afterthought,” to a “dedicated single-player experience where multiplayer is optional.”

Capcom really upped its game with their RE-Engine that debuted in 2017’s Resident Evil 7. It has since seen Capcom through 16 games and three console generations, but none were as demanding and out of that design scope as Dragon’s Dogma 2, which is probably why it’s the first to make the versatile engine visibly bulge at the seams. This is a game that relies on physically based materials, photogrammetry textures, and realistic human models and animation, alongside a fantastical and mythical world, but the bumpers come off in places where we see the open-ended, dynamic, and systemic game design with CPU-controlled enemies and teammates, vast, open plains to explore, and dense towns with constant data streaming. This flips the linear nature of the core engine's focus on its head, raising the demands on the throughput, teams, memory management, and, ultimately, performance.
