Atlus has announced that Persona 3 Reload's Episode Aigis: The Answer DLC will require ownership of the Expansion Pass. Persona 3 Reload's Expansion Pass has quickly generated negative feedback from fans after its March 11 release.
The Expansion Pass features multiple waves, with the first one offering Persona fans background music sets from Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden. The second wave comes in May and gives fans Velvet Room costumes and more background music, while the third wave in September adds a remake of Episode Aigis: The Answer. Persona fans have not reviewed the Expansion Pass kindly, citing reasons like its price tag and that Persona 3 Reload had already released $27 worth of DLC after releasing in February. The latest announcement from Atlus probably won't help calm frustrated fans.
TheEpisode Aigis remake will not be sold separately once it's released in September and will only be available to those who purchase the $35 Expansion Pass. This is a somewhat peculiar move, as publishers often make individual expansions available for purchase, and the timing certainly isn't great after the recent launch of the poorly received Expansion Pass. The Pass' Steam listing currently sits at a 21% approval rating after 500-plus reviews. However, it's definitely not all doom and gloom for the Persona franchise, as the base version of Persona 3 Reload continues to be received fantastically well with an Overwhelmingly Positive rating of 95%.
But as for the game's DLC, some fans are disappointed. Persona 3 featured a $27 DLC pack at launch that included additions like costume sets and background music. This content pack was free to those who purchased the $100 Persona 3 Reload Digital Premium Edition. However, these users need to fork over an additional $35 for the Expansion Pass and its Episode Aigis DLC. And, in contrast to Atlus' recent announcement, the various sets included in the initial DLC pack were available to purchase separately.
A senior employee working on Persona recently confirmed that a finished version of Episode Aigis was not cut from Persona 3 Reload's launch. Previous leaks had claimed as much, but the developer explained that the DLC is closer to «40-50%» done. Episode Aigis was originally intended to be part of the base game, but the team ran into significant development issues that led to the remade expansion being delayed before it was ever close to being finished.
New Persona-related leaks claim that Atlus has partnered with Tose Software to develop a game. Atlus superfans might recognize the company's name, as the two collaborated on PlayStation 1 titles Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers and Thousand Arms.
