Developer Zen Studios has announced that a new table is on its way to the long-running digital arcade. The new table launches as DLC on March 16.
Zen Studios revealed the Pacific Rim table with a trailer and accompanying press release. The table references scenes from the 2013 movie. A primary focus is the “Double Event,” where Leatherback and Otachi attacked Hong Kong, with the Kaiju appearing as blockers rising from the table. The pinball table also prominently features an animated model of Gipsy Danger, which takes damage as the game goes on. However, the Jager is more than just eye candy; its arm-mounted Plasmacaster can launch an extra pinball onto the table.
The new Pinball FX table also lets players re-create some aspects of Pacific Rim through the medium of pinball. Shooting the correct lanes in succession will strengthen the bond between Raleigh and Mako, and following the General’s instructions will take Gipsy Danger down to the Rift at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. They can also seal the Rift permanently by locking the balls in the Core Lane and overloading the Jager’s reactor.
“The scale and the stakes are always big in Legendary Entertainment’s franchises,” said Zen Studios COO Mel Kirk. “Translating the epic action of the film into the confines of a pinball cabinet proved quite the challenge, and we might have failed — this pinball experience will burst out of the machine and your screen!”
Pinball FX DLC vary in price, but single-table add-ons like the one for Pacific Rim typically sell for $5.49. The game is available on PC, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5.
