is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the virtual basketball franchise. Developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Games, is known for creating the most authentic NBA simulation games every year. This year the newly added ProPLAY feature takes actual NBA footage and applies it to many of the animations in the game, which adds a lot to immersion, particularly when combined with the fun commentary and cutscenes that are smooth and polished.
was released on September 8, 2023, for most gaming platforms available right now including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game is much more than simply shooting hoops, with an addictive MyCAREER mode, a fun City environment, enthusiastic Streetball games that provide side-quest content, and lots of little details that let players customize their game. Animations and emotes, hoverboards, and the detailed character creator are all impressive extras in the game.

looks like it could easily be one of the best basketball sims ever created. The variety of modes to play in is fun, and the special Mamba Moments are a wonderful highlight of the career of Kobe Bryant. Streetball offers a more casual but exciting side-quest opportunity to the game. Perhaps the most fun is the MyCAREER mode, which is engaging and immersive despite the main character being a bit of a prideful brat at times, and all the cutscenes and commentary for it are phenomenal.
The gameplay mechanics in are just challenging enough to make it feel like a victory after playing a game well or successfully completing that special move. Even running around the main City can be entertaining and provides a chance to see other real-world players also just hanging out and enjoying the experience together. Unfortunately, all of this is quickly forgotten if someone wants to have any hope of playing competitively online.
This is the first year that cross-platform play has been available, which is a wonderful step forward for the series. The suffocating amount of microtransactions sadly makes feel like a pay-to-win situation that is unbecoming of the franchise as they actually affect the ability to play well. Even in the MyCAREER game mode, Virtual Currency (VC) is used to purchase much more than just cosmetic items that could be fun enough on their own. Players can easily spend thousands of VC in attribute upgrades to make their character a better player. While VC can be earned simply by playing the game, it is extremely slow to acquire in this way. These microtransactions are especially disheartening to anyone who wants to attempt to play online, as it is easy to tell who has spent large

is a video game based on an anime based on a video game series, which means it borrows elements from both, but feels more like the former than the latter. That being said, knowing a lot about the franchise or the anime (or manga) isn't really necessary for this experience. Featuring some of the iconic monsters and spells from, is more of an anime recap than a game, which is a bit unfortunate considering just how excellent the actual gameplay is.
The Diablo 4 Season 2 reveal is targeted for the first week of October, Blizzard reveals. The next Diablo 4 update livestream is planned to go over what we can expect to see from the upcoming Season of Blood, but Diablo community manager Adam Fletcher confirms that we won’t be seeing it for a couple more weeks.
Visual Concepts continues to provide the most authentic simulation in sports gaming, but the in-game economy is on a fast break to the bottom.
Cyberpunk 2077 and I have a troubled history. From its disappointing launch state on console and PC back during its earliest days, I’ve had a hard time really getting into the sprawling RPG, as bugs, glitches and overall performance issues held everything back.
may be the last of V's story, but it's a step towards a brighter future for CD Projekt Red. The expansion is both the first and last for the futuristic RPG, which is set in Mike Pondsmith's universe — and after the game's less-than-ideal launch in late 2020, its announcement sowed both seeds of curiosity and doubt. Even though it's not quite flawless in its execution, delivers its promise with an excellent story, engrossing gameplay, and quality-of-life improvements that make the game it always should've been.
Remember how many dildos were originally in Cyberpunk 2077? You couldn’t loot a corner in Night City without picking one up, to the point where CD Projekt Red actually had to patch a number of them out. Lootable dildos weren’t necessarily a problem on their own, but their abundance was a good example of how Cyberpunk’s grand story could occasionally clash with the cheap shock humor found around it. Phantom Liberty aims to right that dildo misalignment, and after some soul-searching, has seemingly found what kind of Cyberpunk story it wants to tell, and nails it. Balancing the punk-rock verve of Mike Pondsmith’s tabletop RPG with an exquisitely crafted spy story and best-in-class visuals, Phantom Liberty is Cyberpunk 2077 at its best.
Visual Concepts came to an important but necessary conclusion with NBA 2K24: it needed to dial back the superfluous aspects of the series back. For the past two years, on PS5 specifically, the release’s popular MyCAREER mode has wanted to touch upon all aspects of basketball – including the cultural stuff, like fashion and music. This year’s game, however, is focused fully on the court, and as a solo experience it’s all the better for it.
NBA 2K24 is the brand new basketball simulation from 2K Sports, developed by Visual Concepts. Inspired by the 2023-24 NBA season, the game features all of the official teams and players from the National Basketball Association, as well as the WNBA. In addition to the usual MyPlayer and MyTeam modes, this year's game also features a full campaign inspired by LA Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
NBA 2K24 continues down the path the series has been taking for a long time. It takes a few more steps toward capturing the real on court action in digital form, making some more realistic tweaks to the gameplay, but at the same time it remains mired by almost everything off court. I’ve previously called out how virtual currency (VC) is chipping away at the NBA 2K experience, and that has not changed in NBA 2K24.
Less than a week after NBA 2K24 hit Steam, the latest annual instalment in the basketball game series is competing for an unwanted title: the worst-reviewed PC game on Steam.
Bad news for NBA 2K24, as a botched PC port has put it squarely in second place for the worst-reviewed Steam games of all time.
