New hardware details for Nintendo's successor appear to have leaked, reportedly revealing features for its controllers, screen and more.

Based on rumors so far, the Nintendo Switch 2 seems to be mostly focused on keeping what people love about the Switch and improving on it, but a new report indicates that one iconic element of the system could be going away with its successor. The long wait for news on the console has been full of ups and downs, dating back to the time when a Switch Pro was expected before a new system entirely. More recently, a presumed 2024 date seemed to slip out the window in favor of a 2025 release, making the wait even longer.

By all accounts, the Nintendo Switch 2 is still almost a year away, but potential new details on the console have been filtering through on a consistent basis, courtesy of a what’s been an unbroken stream of leaks. Another leak has now emerged, with Mobopad, a manufacturer of Switch accessories, posting alleged new details that it has learned about Nintendo’s next-gen console on Bilibili.

According to a new leak, the long-rumored Nintendo Switch successor could replace the original’s rail-based Joy-Con joysticks with magnetic ones. The Nintendo Switch has been one of the Big N’s most profitable systems for over 6 years, but insider discussions have shifted toward the inevitable follow-up. Nintendo itself has yet to make any official announcements about its future hardware plans, but major studios have supposedly been given development kits for the new console and are already making titles for it.
