The Nintendo Switch has been an absolute juggernaut where its sales are concerned (and in other areas), and it’s enjoyed that success all over the world. In fact, in the United States, it recently crossed another major sales milestone.
Circana (formerly known as the NPD Group) recently released software and hardware sales data for the US for the month of November. Alongside that data, Circana analyst Mat Piscatella revealed on Twitter that the Nintendo Switch has now become the third best-selling consoles of all time in the United States, surpassing the Xbox 360 (which sold over 43.2 million units in the region).
That means it now trails behind only the Nintendo DS (which sold over 53.5 million units in the US) and the PlayStation 2 (which sold over 46.3 million units).
Last month, Nintendo announced that the Switch has sold over 132.46 million units worldwide as of September 30.

The Nintendo Switch can be a wonderful console for playing multiplayer games, particularly with its several Nintendo-exclusive cooperative titles, as well as many games that can be enjoyed with friends on other systems via crossplay. Nothing can quite match the fun of playing a game with friends or family in the same room in local play, which many Nintendo games are designed for. If looking for online multiplayer fun, the choices available for Nintendo players are vast and can help people feel connected even over long distances.
2023 was an incredible year for Nintendo Switch fans, with Nintendo having easily the strongest line up of first party games and exclusives from the big three console manufacturers. Sure, a large part of that was thanks to the company trawling through their back catalogue of beloved classics and sprucing them up for their current handheld, but there were also long-awaited sequels, rejuvenated mainstays and more.
The Nintendo Switch may be well past the normal lifespan for a console, yet judging from the list of games with planned release dates in 2024, it isn't slowing down just yet. With the beginning of the new year on the horizon, there is already a full catalog of titles coming that include remakes, sequels, and brand-new games. Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, and many more familiar faces will be gracing Switch screens in 2024.
The Nintendo Switch isn't always the best way to play multiplatform games, but sometimes it stands out as the absolute best option, especially when it comes to RPGs. Roleplaying games are often long and grindy, and gaining the ability to take them on the go can significantly increase the odds of actually seeing the end of an adventure. There are also plenty of great roleplaying games with artstyles that translate nicely to the Switch, maintaining visual fidelity and performance even on limited hardware capabilities.
Publisher and distributor Selecta Play has unveiled the contents of the upcoming Blasphemous 2 Collector’s Edition. Slated for release on PS5 and Nintendo Switch in early 2024, Blasphemous 2 Collector’s Edition will feature quite a few physical goodies alongside the game itself.
For players on Nintendo Switch, seeds are a great way to generate new scenic and resource-rich worlds. The Trails and Tales update added new content to the game, but at its heart, is still very much the same game it’s always been. To generate its infinite worlds, relies on seeds: essentially random numbers used for world generation. Sharing seeds allows players to share their favorite custom worlds.
After launching initially for PC and Netflix, Free Lives’ Terra Nil is out on Nintendo Switch. If you’ve never seen the environmental strategy title, check out the release trailer below to see how it works.
We reported previously how Sony had requested sales data group Circana to log PS Portal as its own platform, and now we have the results for its debut month. According to analyst Mat Piscatella, the Remote Play streaming unit was the fourth best-selling system of November, putting it behind the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
On July 29, 2024, Microsoft will turn off the ability to purchase games on the Xbox 360 Marketplace, effectively killing access to hundreds of digital games. Many of those games will remain available on other platforms, but there are outliers - and one resource has put together a list of the 47 games that will die with the 360 store.
The Nintendo Switch is a console that has already held on longer than the industry average for console lifespans, yet in 2023, there have been numerous titles released for the versatile system that have continued to prove its worth. From the Nintendo mascots of and to lesser-known titles like, Switch owners had a lot to choose from this year. Many of these were also nominated and won various recognitions at The Game Awards 2023.
