Blind players can now have Fatalities narrated to them in Mortal Kombat 1. The new descriptive audio option adds humor to the otherwise gory beatdowns.
Edmond Tran, the managing editor of GamesHub, shared a video in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, showing Li Mei ripping his player character, apparently another Li Mei, to shreds in the pre-order beta for Mortal Kombat 1, as the narrator explains her Fatality move with the same calming diction of a nature documentary narrator. He deemed the audio description option "ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE" because of its narrative delivery.

The narrator explains Li Mei's Fatality move against her opponent as follows: "Li Mei punches through the victim's stomach and yanks out their guts. She clenches her fist and a purple spark of energy slithers along an intestine towards her victim. She kicks their head off and the spark explodes their severed head like a bloody firework."
Tran shared a TikTok video on GamesHub's account showing examples of other fighters having their Fatality moves being described to players, from Johnny Cage shoving his victim's face onto a Walk of Fame plaque followed by selfie with the dead victim's torn face to Sonya's explosive kiss of death. Jax also had a hilarious narration, as his Fatality move involves him turning into a giant before crushing his victim, making the description sound as cartoony as possible: "Jax enlarges himself into a towering giant, then crushes the victim under his boot," the narrator says.
Mortal Kombat 1 releases Sept. 19. The pre-order beta is available now.

Fans of the Mortal Kombat franchise might be dealing with the Denuvo DRM if they opt to pick the game up on PC. That’s not something players might be interested in going through, but it looks like NetherRealm Studios is not forgetting to tack on this DRM protection when they launch the latest installment to the fighting franchise this month. If you were hopeful that the Denuvo DRM was being dropped, you’re out of luck. A new update on the Steam page for Mortal Kombat 1 confirms that the game will have the popular DRM attached.

The third and final season of Ragnarok, Netflix's Norwegian teen fantasy drama, is one spot away from dethroning Who is Erin Carter? as the number one on the streaming charts.
It’s a big week, folks! There’s new fantasy TV on Prime Video, new animated fantasy on Netflix, new wacky animated fantasy on Max, and new ballet school fantasy on Hulu — OK, you get the picture. There’s a lot of fantasy coming this week! Even more if you count One Piece on Netflix (which I only sort of do, but not really).

It’s been a whirlwind of a week for us at TSA, with a big part of that down to two of us being at Gamescom. We’ve played so many games that it’s hard to pick the best ones out, but I’m very excited for Bellwright, Mudrunner Expeditions and Mortal Kombat 1.

Adam Sandler won our hearts with the Netflix sports drama Hustle. However, his comedies haven’t always struck a chord with the critics well. Fortunately, his latest comedy You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is about to change that with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
