A Minecraft player has demonstrated that the Mace can defeat a Wither with one hit under the right conditions. The Mace is the latest weapon added to the Minecraft Snapshot preview, and fans are exploring its capabilities.
With Minecraft fans anticipating the official release of update 1.21, Mojang continues to add to the content offering. The Mace was recently confirmed and added to the Snapshot preview which can be accessed by anyone who owns the game. The Mace can be crafted using a Breeze Rod and Heavy Core, with the former being dropped by the Breeze mob in Minecraft's Trial Chambers. This weapon has a base attack damage of 7, but the value significantly increases if a gamer falls from a height of 2 blocks or higher. One fan has found a way to ensure the defeat of a Wither upon falling from dozens of blocks above it.
Reddit user GroundbreakingGur262 recently shared a Minecraft clip in which they plummet toward a Wither from a massive height. The video begins with the player looking down at a village from such a height that the curve of their world can be seen. As they get closer to the ground, Minecraft's Wither boss can eventually be seen and is quickly killed by one swing of the Mace. This clip demonstrates that, provided a gamer is high enough, any enemy can be easily defeated with this new weapon. The fall damage that would've otherwise killed the player is also negated by hitting the Wither with the Mace at the precise right time.
While it hasn't been added to the live version client yet, the Mace is expected to be part of Minecraft update 1.21, given its status in the Snapshot. The Wither can be created by combining 4 blocks of Soul Sand or Soil with 3 Wither Skeleton Skulls atop a T-shaped frame. The process is like how Iron Golems are created, but the powerful hostile mob can deal lots of damage and has a health bar displayed at the top akin to the Ender Dragon. A fall like this is similar to when a player falls from a great height and uses a water bucket at the last second to break their fall. Given that this process can be miscalculated, the same could be true for powerful Mace swings like this.
As Mojang has made adjustments to other aspects of the current Minecraft Snapshot, the Mace may be altered ahead of going live. Given that most players can download the Snapshot Preview, some may wish to practice using the weapon before it's added to their worlds.
