A new set of 2.2 leaks are hinting at one of the new characters in the patch not being worth pulling for. The turn-based RPG is in the final stretch of Version 2.2, which introduced the world of Penacony. While a lot of information about Version 2.1 has yet to be confirmed with the official 2.1 livestream, developer HoYoverse has already announced some of the characters for Version 2.2 – one of which has had details about their gameplay kit leaked. Unfortunately, that information suggests they may not be worth the Stellar Jade investment.
The 5-star unit called Robin, who originally appeared as an NPC in main story quests, has been officially confirmed by HoYoverse in a post on the official account on X as one of the new characters in Version 2.2. There are, however, new leaks about Robin in Version 2.2 that indicate that the upcoming support hero may not be worth pulling for in the gacha system. Information obtained by leakers Uncle Ginger Cat and HXG, shared by a user on Reddit, mention that Robin is a “” that is capable of forwarding other units’ actions.
The problem with Robin being focused on advancing actions is that, if that is the bulk of her gameplay kit, it will be too similar to several other existing characters in the game. Bronya, who has been available in the game since its release and can be obtained through the normal loot pool, revolves entirely around forwarding the actions of her team’s DPS.
Sparkle, while focused on buffing allies, is also capable of forwarding actions, even if to a more limited degree. Even Asta in can increase her team’s SPD, ultimately putting them ahead of opponents’ moves.
Asta is not only a good 4-star character, but a F2P (free-to-play) one as well.
If Robin’s kit is based on advancing actions, her usage may be limited. In fact, it might be better to save Stellar Jade to obtain other limited characters, as using Asta, Bronya, or Sparkle can prove to be more effective. Of course, this is an assumption based on a leak with scarce information, so Robin’s final gameplay kit may prove otherwise.
There is a glimmer of hope for her, however, with another piece of information shared by the same leakers and published in another post on Reddit: Robin may be tailored for follow-up characters in. Follow-up characters are those that strike opponents outside their turn when something triggers them to do so.
If Robin’s kit advances actions but also benefits the follow-up´mechanic, often but not exclusively used by characters that follow the Path of the Erudition, once forgotten DPS units like Himeko and Jing Yuan may greatly benefit, while stronger ones like Dr. Ratio may be boosted even further. Until more details about Robin, the new 2.2 character, are leaked or
