Hideki Kamiya expects Platinum to continue the Bayonetta series without him

It’s not very often that a new mainline Zelda title is a direct follow-up to a previous instalment, with Majora’s Mask having been the last one (not counting the handheld titles) to do so until Tears of the Kingdom launched earlier this year. And whenever the next Zelda title arrives, it is going to be an entirely new thing once again, as per series producer Eiji Aonuma.

Sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is an ambitious game with history as up-and-down as its prickly protagonist's mood. The game deflated expectations almost immediately after launch in 2020, disappointing would-be fans with its glitches and fiddly combat. Putting a bow on its comeback arc, developer CD Projekt Red recently released its Phantom Liberty expansion and update 2.0. Now, the game feels deserving of its pre-launch hype, and its unexpected new patch 2.1 happily continues this trend.  

The Viewtiful Joe series used to be one of Capcom’s most promising franchises. After a big debut outing on GameCube and PS2 (the later featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series), it got a direct sequel, a multi-console Smash-like spin-off, and side story exclusive to the Nintendo DS.

Microsoft decided to wait until a week after Black Friday to launch its incredible deal on the Xbox Series X. At Amazon and Walmart, the console costs $349.99, the same price as the newer black Series S with 1 TB of storage, and even the same cost as the Nintendo Switch OLED. With this new price, you can get the Series X and a 1 TB expansion card for the same amount as this console previously sold for.

The Xbox Series X price has been cut to a record low in the United States.

A new trailer for Berlin, Netflix's upcoming Money Heist spin-off, has arrived – and it confirms the return of two more major characters from the original series. 

Hideki Kamiya, formerly of Capcom and PlatinumGames, is now out in the world as a civilian. The legendary director is responsible for some of the best action games ever made, in particular Bayonetta, but following his departure from Platinum earlier this year (a company he co-founded) it doesn't seem like he's going to be involved much in games anymore. 

The Yakuza/Like a Dragon games are an annualized series, a new entry appearing every year since 2014, and sometimes two per year—as was the case in 2023, when Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio released both Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. With so many games coming out, making sure they feel at least a little different, with changing protagonists, locations, and time periods, is essential. Changing the combat system was one of the most surprising shifts.

Original Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya suspects many of his ideas for the series will be going to the grave with him.
