Helpful Infographic Shows to Transfer Pokemon Across All Generations

With the Pokemon series now spanning nine generations, a fan created a useful infographic that showed how players can transfer their favorite critters from past games to the current lineup. The Pokemon fan shared their efforts on social media and edited them after other users gave feedback on some missing games.
From its inception, the Pokemon series was designed to collect and trade various creatures with other players. This extended to future Pokemon generations, as the Time Capsule of Pokemon Gold and Silver brought Pokemon from Kanto to Johto. However, the first two Pokemon generations were incompatible with Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. From that point onward, Pokemon collections stuck on the Game Boy Advance could use the cartridge slot of older Nintendo DS systems to transfer creatures from the third generation to the fourth. As time went on, The Pokemon Company developed more methods to allow trainers to bring their favorite Pokemon along, with Pokemon Bank for the 3DS among the most used.
However, with the end of 3DS and Wii U online services coming up, one Pokemon fan designed a graphic that showed the history of generational transfers. On Reddit, a user named novaexile shared an infographic on the r/pokemon subreddit. From left to right, novaexile shared how Pokemon from as far back as the third generation could be transferred to Pokemon Home and other compatible Pokemon games on the Switch. With the DS serving as the main method for transferring Pokemon across three generations, Pokemon could be transferred from Hoenn to Sinnoh and later to Unova. Following Pokemon Black and White, trainers used the Poke Transporter app on the 3DS to transfer Pokemon from those games and the Virtual Console re-releases of the first two Pokemon generations to send them to Pokemon Bank. Pokemon Bank continued to be used for the sixth and seventh Pokemon generations.
In a follow-up post, novaexile included two GameCube games in the graphic following feedback. These games, Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, allowed trainers to transfer certain Pokemon to the Game Boy Advance Pokemon titles. While Pokemon Bank will remain active after the shutdown of 3DS online services, The Pokemon Company encourages fans to transfer all Pokemon in Pokemon Bank to Pokemon Home as soon as possible to avoid losing them forever.
With Pokemon Legends: Z-A arriving in 2025, the upcoming title will likely include Pokemon Home compatibility at some point. Only time will tell what Pokemon will be available when the new title launches.
