Critics of Sony’s live service initiative are having their suspicions affirmed lately, as the platform holder struggles to get its projects off the ground. While the excellent Helldivers 2 has launched to great success, Naughty Dog’s standalone adaptation of The Last of Us has been unceremoniously scrapped, while Firesprite’s upcoming Twisted Metal reboot was recently canned and London Studio shuttered entirely. The latter was working on a co-op fantasy game.
But despite layoffs at Guerrilla Games last week, the platform holder is pushing ahead with its multiplayer Horizon game, which has been acknowledged by the Dutch developer in recruitment drives, following years of rumours. While little is known about the nature of the title, well-connected Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier says it wasn’t cancelled as part of the firm’s recent restructuring.
It seems there may be multiple online Horizon games in the works, with rumours pointing to some kind of Monster Hunter-style co-op entry as well as an MMO, which is being developed by Korean specialists NCSoft. Sony, as per usual, is keeping any announcements up its sleeve – but for now, it sounds like work is continuing in earnest on this expansion of the popular franchise.

Factions got canned but this bland game MMO will see a release…
What unique experience is this only semi-popular ip going to provide? Can it entice enough people away from the heavy hitters of its genre? Sorry, but in this over saturated market that is what you have to ask yourself.
I think that releasing this is a waste of money tbh.
Guerrilla is great team but I don't think anyone is looking for this much Horizon. I like Aloy and the world they've created but they are going to over saturate with this IP.
Im not a fan of TLoU but even i can see, from comments ive heard since the release announcement and canned announcement that factions would have made Sony some £s. This game, not so much.
@j2c I find it weird when people say this. Like, Horizon Zero Dawn launched in 2017 — seven years ago.
In that time, there's been two games, two expansions, and a VR spin-off. It's hardly flooding the market, is it?
@Sanquine Did you play both? Else you are making assumptions that Factions was a good game and this is worse based on your own bias of these franchises and little more. Not a lot has been leaked about either game.
That’s a shame
Last Of Us Factions could've

Two years and a month after Horizon Forbidden West launched on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, PC gamers can finally step into the vast and gorgeous post-apocalyptic Western USA created by Guerrilla Games.
Revolutionary RPG Baldur's Gate 3 was a monstrous surpise last year, seemingly coming out of nowhere to contend with the industry's heavy hitters. If you're anything like us, you might still be playing, testing the boundaries of this intricate game. For those super fans who don't need any more convincing, developer Larian Studios has revealed that the game's gorgeous PS5 Deluxe Edition will begin shipping in late April, provided there are no last-minute hiccups.

The first Rise of the Ronin review score has been posted online, with Japanese outlet Famitsu awarding the soon-to-be-released PS5 game a total of 37/40 across four reviewers. Individually, the scores break down as three 9/10 scores and a 10/10. Our full PS5 verdict will be posted on Thursday, as the review embargo lifts.
Is that Ellie from The Last of Us we see in this trailer for mobile zombie shooter Doomsday: Last Survivors? No, on closer inspection, this is a character called Peggy – who’s basically Ellie. In fact, pretty much all of the game’s characters look agonisingly similar to someone more popular; Cynthia Calamity is effectively Jill Valentine from Resident Evil and Catherine Calamity looks a lot like Juliet Starling from Lollipop Chainsaw.
One of the big stories this year so far has been Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s relative underperformance in its home territory of Japan. Historically one of the region’s most popular franchises, the Square Enix sequel couldn’t even outsell fellow PS5 console exclusive Final Fantasy 16 in its first week on the market – a surprise considering its strong critical reception.
A glut of additional PS5 and PS4 games are coming to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium this week, and as is usually the case, there's a lot of variety on show. March's update, which consists of 13 titles across the two tiers, has everything from sports sim NBA 2K24 to ultra-niche Super Neptunia RPG.
Those itching for a new Jak & Daxter probably won’t have their enthusiasm sated by Sony’s emulated PS5 and PS4 re-release of Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier – but it can’t hurt, huh? The game, originally released in 2009 by High Impact Games, was first conceived by Naughty Dog, but due to its focus on Uncharted: Drake’s Fortunate at the time, it handed the project off.
Sydney Bernice Sweeney is an incredibly popular American actress best known for her performances in TV series like The White Lotus and Euphoria and films like Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Madame Web, and Anyone But You. She also recently sparked some intense (relatively speaking) speculation as to which The Simpsons racer she might have been referring to in a Madame Web-related interview with IGN.
