Google Gemini vs OpenAI’s GPT-4: Can the new multimodal AI model take on ChatGPT maker?

Researchers have developed an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that uses sequences of life events — such as health history, education, job and income — to predict everything from an individual's personality to their lifespan.

Wordle was a lockdown phenomenon: one of those games that, merits aside, simply landed at the right time. Google Deepmind has recently announced Gemini, its new AI model to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Naughty Dog have officially stopped development of The Last Of Us Online, a multiplayer game based on their celebrated McCarthyite (no, not that McCarthy - I mean the novelist) post-apocalyptic action-adventure. Announced in the dusty days of 2018 as a multiplayer mode for The Last Of Us: Part 2, it evolved into a standalone experience with new characters and a new setting, but Sony reportedly scaled the project back earlier this year. Naughty Dog have now formally called it quits, stating that supporting a live service project such as this would have “severely impacted” future single-player game projects. Sony never locked down platforms for The Last Of Us Online, but a PC release was surely on the cards, though I would have expected the game to launch first on PlayStation, as with the original Last Of Us and Uncharted 4.

Google on Tuesday took the wraps off its highly anticipated next-generation foundation model called Gemini. Google claims that it has tested the benchmarks of the Gemini model against those of GPT-4, and the company claims that its AI modal has defeated OpenAI's LLM in 30 out of 32 benchmarks, including reasoning, math, reading comprehension, and Python code generation. The company has already integrated one of the models, Gemini Pro, into Google Bard, further improving its capabilities. Two days have passed since it launched and now that people have had a chance to try Google's latest AI innovation, it has drawn both positive and negative reactions from experts and users on social media platforms.
