X-Men '97 debuted on Disney Plus this week, reviving the iconic animated show after more than two decades and having watched the first two episodes, I can confirm it's off to a great start. The relaunch of its animated show isn't the only thing X-Men has to celebrate this week, though. It has also been 50 years since the introduction of Wolverine, the most famous member of the X-Men, and to celebrate, four new Funko Pops modeled after the anti-hero's various looks are now available on Amazon.
Wolverine has changed up his look over the years between the comics, animated shows, and live-action movies. However, the outfit he is best known for is the yellow and blue one with a black mask. Two of his four new Funko Pops have him in that outfit. One figure has Wolverine with his teeth clenched and claws out, so not only the outfit for which he is best known, but the mood and facial expression you likely picture whenever you think of him too.
The other blue and yellow outfit Wolverine Pop! is based on the Fatal Attractions comic book run. The adamantium that clings to his skeleton destabilized, you can see a clearly uncomfortable Pop! with the virtually indestructible metal ripping through its suit. The third of the four Pops goes farther back on the Wolverine timeline. Back to before he joined the X-Men and was simply known as Weapon X, the story arc during which the adamantium mentioned above was applied to his skeleton.
Released to celebrate 50 years of Wolverine, this Funko Pop! is modeled after the character's look in the Fatal Attractions comic book run. Wolverine has his claws out and the unstable adamantium that coats them and the rest of his skeleton can be seen bursting through his suit.
The Weapon X Funko Pop! may well be the angriest of the four, which is saying something, and has Wolverine wearing nothing but a helmet and underwear, claws out again, because of course. Finally is a very different Funko Pop! Technically not a Wolverine one at all as the design is based on the man behind the claws, Logan. Specifically Logan as an old man, but the Pop! does have its claws out. Just because he's old it doesn't mean he can't be Wolverine after all.
Weapo
Before Logan became Wolverine, he was Weapon X. The experiment during which the adamantium he was famous for was applied to his bones. The Pop! appears to have captured a moment after that has happened, Weapon X angry, claws out, the helmet and wires used for the procedure still attached.
2024 is shaping up to be a heck of a year for Wolverine and the X-Men as a whole. Some of the characters from the rebooted X-Men '97 already have their own Funko Pops, including Cyclops and Gambit. Wolverine has a return to the big screen to look forward to as well
