Back in September, Square Enix confirmed that two paid DLC expansions for Final Fantasy 16 were in development — but we're still waiting on any concrete details. However, producer Naoki Yoshida did state that more information would be heading our way before the end of the year — and we're obviously now in December.
So is a reveal imminent? That's what fans are wondering after adult Clive's Japanese voice actor, <a class=«external» href=«https://twitter.com/yuuya_uchida/status/1728602086831759552?ref_src=» https:>Yuya Uchida
, made an intriguing post on Twitter, only adding to the assumption that news is still incoming before 2023 is over.
Uchida is currently playing through the action RPG himself, and basically says that he needs to get on with it because he's heard rumours that there's some kind of announcement coming in December. Now, this wouldn't be the first time that a voice actor has hinted at an upcoming reveal — and it certainly won't be the last — but even written in Japanese, it seems like a pretty specific thing to post about.
Could the DLC show up at The Game Awards next week? Right now, it certainly seems probable, but again, only if Square Enix's plans are still on track. Fortunately, we won't have to wait too long to find out if there's any weight behind all this speculation.
As for the expansions themselves, director Hiroshi Takai has hinted at what's involved. When asked about the DLC at the recent PlayStation Partner Awards (via Game Watch), he said the expansions will «allow you to experience the 'darkness' and 'mystery' of Clive's story». He also confirms there'll be powerful enemies and new combat elements. That's all we're getting for now, though!

Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
My kid finished the game soon after launch then we traded it in for Mario Wonder. Unlike the mess that was FFXV 16 seemed complete so think I'll just ignore this.

Originally due in November, trendy K-hip hop combat game Tiger Blade will now purr to PSVR2 from 20th December, just in time for the holidays. The rhythm slasher, which sees you tasked with stealing a previously believed extinct cat from a rival clan, is set in an alternate version of Korea – and you can read more about the developer’s influences in our interview.
Sony has updated the Last Chance to Play section of the PS Plus Extra tab on PS5, revealing what games will be leaving the service in January. Nine titles will be banished, with the biggest losses being Devil May Cry 5 and It Takes Two. The full list looks like this:
Fortnite is at peak popularity right now, following an outrageously successful OG season, and the launch of various new games, including LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing. With the holidays upon us, many had been looking forward to Epic Games’ annual WinterFest, where historically it’s introduced a cosy cabin for players to hang out in and unwrap presents.
Fuelled by some aggressive marketing and tempting price promotions, PS5 accounted for almost half of all consoles sold in the UK during November. The system – which was massively supply constrained during previous holidays – improved a whopping 126 per cent year-on-year and 149 per cent month-on-month, driving overall hardware sales up 32 per cent compared to 2022.
It should come as little surprise, but the disappointing launch state of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 didn't stop it from being the best-selling game of November in the USA. New data from Circana confirms the FPS topped the charts last month and instantly become the second best-selling title of 2023, just behind Hogwarts Legacy. Interest in the latest entry made the overall Call of Duty series the second-most-played game on PS5 in November, though Fortnite did claim first place.
It’s been a good few months since Final Fantasy 16 was properly confirmed as coming to PC. While we’re yet to get a release date, development of FF16 on PC clearly continues apace, as the game’s producer has teased a few more details - including the fact you’ll need an SSD to play.
Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are all timed PlayStation exclusives, but they may never make it to Xbox, as exclusivity for Square Enix titles is apparently going to get worse in the future.
It’s no shock that people are looking forward to diving into the upcoming PC version of Final Fantasy 16. One of this year’s biggest RPGs, its dark fantasy story has been a huge hit with both series fans and complete newcomers since it launched for PlayStation 5 back in June.
PC players planning to play Final Fantasy 16 should consider an SSD «a must».
Amid the madness of announcements at The Game Awards 2023, Square Enix has reaffirmed when the PS5 exclusivity periods for Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will end. As spotted by @IdleSloth84_, the trailer for Final Fantasy 16’s upcoming DLC, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, has noted that the base game isn’t available on other formats until December 31st, 2023.
The PC version of Final Fantasy XVI may require an SSD, producer Naoki Yoshida suggested in a new interview.
