One immensely skilled Elden Ring fan has recently put together a massive frame containing a 3D-printed rendition of the Lands Between. The impressive-looking decoration was intended as a gift for his son, commemorating the first 1,000 hours that the pair spent playing Elden Ring.
FromSoftware's latest soulslike has inspired countless arts and crafts projects since its early 2022 release. While a lot of those creative efforts were centered on gorgeous Elden Ring drawings, some talented fans have also been exploring other mediums of expression.
That demographic includes Reddit user Elminster2031, who recently crafted an absolutely incredible rendition of the Elden Ring map, which he had made as a gift for his son in honor of the duo spending 1,000 hours playing the hit soulslike. The largely 3D-printed diorama contains the entire surface map of the Lands Between, complete with many of its most recognizable landmarks. Elminster2031 designed the creation to be hung on a wall, thus placing it into a large wooden painting frame.
Elden Ring story spoilers ahead.
Miniature replicas of the eight Great Runes adorn the frame itself, while a not-so-miniature rendition of the golden Erdtree towers over the rest of this incredible Elden Ring diorama. Some fans chiming in on the creation jokingly suggested that the Erdtree should be set on fire for maximum authenticity, with Elminster2031 surprisingly responding that he had already done so. Specifically, the tree was made of copper wire, which was galvanized with sodium hydroxide and zinc, then turned to brass through torching, giving it the golden color seen in the final result.
Reflecting on his achievement, Elminster2031 revealed that this entire project took around 100 hours to complete in total. Although he didn't detail his material costs, he did offer to make another one for $1,250 to one Elden Ring fan inquiring about that possibility. The final version of the frame doesn't include any of the underground zones from the game, but not due to a lack of brainstorming. However, Elminster2031 revealed that he had ultimately decided against including locations like the Siofra River and Deeproot Depths because that would have made it harder for the end result to be compact enough to hang from a wall.
3D printing has so far been a fairly popular technique for bringing the Lands Between and parts thereof to life. Another example testifying to that trend has recently emerged in the form of an incredibly detailed Elden Ring diorama depicting Iron Fist Alexander.
