Fallout 76 saw a huge spike in players over the weekend, breaking its concurrent player count record on Steam. At its peak, 39,455 fans were playing at once, and this only accounts for those on PC via Steam.
This increase in players unsurprisingly coincides with the premiere of the Fallout show on Prime Video, reigniting interest in Bethesda's once-controversial MMO. It remains to be seen if these players stick around, but in any case, it demonstrates that the show is bringing fans over to the games, as we've seen with other video game adaptations.
While Fallout 76 launched in 2018, it only came to Steam in 2020.
According to SteamDB, Fallout 76 was averaging a concurrent player count of a little under 10,000 before the show. This often crept into five figures as the show drew closer, but increased dramatically after the premiere. Even right now, early on a Monday, there are 18,186 players at the time of writing.
As we reported previously, the success of the show is also helping the single-player Fallout games. This has only improved further since we last covered the story, with 83,491 players picking up Fallout 4 over the weekend, on top of 19,505 fans playing New Vegas. The latter will probably climb even further too, given the ending of Fallout's first season. Even the first Fallout game, often left out of playthroughs of the series, has picked up more than a couple of thousand players, a huge increase from before the show was released.
The release of the Fallout show has some fans reassessing Fallout 76, with many on social media enjoying their time with the MMO all these years later. Of course, this is due in large part to all of the updates and expansions that have launched since, as many of the game's issues have long been addressed. Perhaps the biggest gripe players had with Fallout 76 at launch was its lack of NPCs, as Bethesda wanted to encourage player interaction. However, this was addressed in an expansion, adding NPCs to the wasteland.
As for the single-player entries, we can expect Fallout 4 to bring in even more players soon. Its current-gen expansion is finally set to launch on April 25, bringing improvements to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Sadly, this means that the huge fan gane, Fallout London, has had to delay its long-awaited release, which was set for April 23. As explained by the project lead, the update would break Fallout London, so the team has had to delay the release indefinitely until the mod is made compatible with the new version of Fallout 4.

It’s been five years since Game of Thrones ended and a good while since we had a decent video game based on George RR Martin’s fantasy writings that aren’t Elden Ring lore. Yet it seems that Game of Thrones’ cultural cachet still has enough draw to inspire new games of its own. And not just an arguably underrated-if-also-not-particularly-great action-adventure RPG or fairly okay Telltale adventure game, either, but a whole honest-to-goodness Game of Thrones MMO currently in development, according to new rumours.

Even after Ganon's defeat, there are still many activities you can pursue.

While the original courted controversy over depicting a recreation of 15th Century Bohemia devoid of people of color due to 'historical accuracy,' Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's grander scope means "a wide range of ethnicities."
