Fallout 4 has recently seen a 33% increase in its number of Xbox players. Fallout 4 may not be a recent game, but it seems that the new trailer for Amazon’s Fallout TV show may be tempting players to go back to Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic adventure.
Fallout 4 was originally released in 2015. Set in the Commonwealth area around Boston, the game followed the story of the Sole Survivor as they looked for their lost son and got entangled with the game’s factions, such as the Institute and the Brotherhood of Steel. Eventually, Fallout 4 became one of Bethesda’s best-selling games, selling over 12 million units.
Now, players are coming back to Fallout 4, likely due to the upcoming Fallout TV show. According to TrueAchievements, there has been an increase of 33% in players collecting achievements in Fallout 4. The website gathered information from over 2.4 million global Xbox accounts, confirming that Fallout 4 had a surge in player activity, appearing as the 38th most-played Xbox game in its charts despite not having any big content updates since the Far Harbor DLC back in 2016.
Overall, it seems that players are very excited about the Fallout franchise in 2024. For example, Fallout 76 received an increase of 6% in players, while Fallout: New Vegas also experienced a surge, entering TrueAchievements’ Top 200 most-played games. Fallout 3, however, did not seem to follow this trend.
The most probable reason why players are going back to Fallout 4 is due to the upcoming Amazon’s Fallout TV show. An official trailer was revealed back on March 7, showing the misadventures of the vault dweller Lucy (played by Ella Purnell) in the dangerous wasteland. The series is set to debut on April 11 on Prime Video, and it will have eight episodes in its first season. It’s likely that many of the people playing Fallout 4 right now heard about the upcoming TV show and decided to learn more about, or refamiliarize themselves with, the game’s universe.
The upcoming Fallout TV series is not everything that fans have to wait for in 2024, though. A few months ago, the creators of Fallout: London revealed that the mod will be out on April 23, debuting shortly after the series. Fallout: London is a total conversion mod for Fallout 4 that intends to recreate London, offering a completely new DLC-sized storyline and fully new areas for players to explore.
Fallout 4 is an RPG in the Fallout series, being the fourth major installment. This time around, players are in The Commonwealth, formerly Massachusetts, in the year 2287.

As World Of Warcraft Classic - an MMORPG that is, confusingly, a new version of the old version of World Of Warcraft - enters phase 3 of its Season Of Discovery, PCGamer has an interview with some of the devs where they talk about the decision to not run Player Test Realms - servers where they roll out the new content to smaller numbers of players to road test it. This means that when they launch new stuff for Seasons Of Discovery it'll probably break more often, but it means players get to discover brand new things together. Which is great! And the developers think it's good too.
