Ermac was finally unveiled in July earlier this year as part of Mortal Kombat 1's first DLC, to a resounding 'meh' from fans, with many asking him to please mask up. Now, the in-game design has leaked, and the sentiment is pretty much the same.
The first look we got was a render alongside other characters such as Invincible's Omni-Man, and while the in-game look matches that design, seeing it in-engine gives us a new perspective. Thanks to the leak, his design has grown on some people, but the want to cover up his face hasn't gone anywhere.

"If he has a good few masks for his gear option, then honestly this design isn't bad at all," CoreyReynolds said. "His face just looks like a dead kangaroo's nut sack."
Dangelouss notes that the general idea of Ermac is better, even if his look is a little rocky, since he isn't a ghost-like phantom gliding through the air anymore. "The hood is still tight to the neck, which annoys me. However, he has feet on the ground and, apparently, is no longer a floating weirdo. I'll take it".
Mrplow8 is mostly concerned that his look is unfamiliar, even if the execution is better in-game than in the reveal trailer, "He looks a lot cooler in the game [...] He still doesn't really look like Ermac, though."
Others, like Such-Description6541, are big fans of the costume but not who's wearing it, "His outfit looks so cool but his face is literally Voldemort".

The leak also reveals that Ermac is in the story mode, hence how we have a look at his design in-game, even though he's DLC. "There will be people who give NRS a pass for making [us] pay for something we already own," Effective_Positive61 said.
"That's the worst part," alteisen999 replied. "The main thing about a fighting game, the characters, are behind paid DLC when they are in the game. Remember when Capcom did it in Street Fighter X Tekken and people went crazy?"
It's thanks to the story mode that we have a reason for him not wearing a mask in any of the screenshots or key art. Ermac works differently in Fire God Liu Kang's universe. "His face shifts to whatever soul is talking," the_3-14_is_a_lie said, sharing another leak. "For example, he gets this really fucking goofy moustache when King Jerrod is speaking".
Quan Chi also appears in the story despite being DLC, but both characters are evidently unfinished, using placeholder stances and movesets. That being said, having story characters behind a paywall is not going down well.
