Blockchain games are returning to Epic Games’ marketplace. The Epic Games Store has a strict ban on games classified as “Adults Only” by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) — normally games with excessive nudity or violence. But the marketplace announced today that blockchain games classified as AO only because they use blockchain are an exception to this rule.
“Some blockchain-based games are receiving Adults Only (AO) ratings from industry ratings bodies for their particular implementation of blockchain,” Epic Games spokesperson Brian Sharon says in a statement to The Verge. “We’ve updated our Epic Games Store content policy to allow for games that are rated AO solely due to the usage of blockchain or NFT technology.” Policies prohibiting things like porn, gambling, and hateful content remain in place, Sharon says. (Blockchain games cannot facilitate gambling, Epic says.)
Gods Unchained andStriker Manager 3, for example, were recently booted from Epic’s marketplace due to their 18 and over rating, and because of the new policy shift, both games have returned to the store.
Adults Only is the ESRB’s most restrictive rating, and some stores don’t sell games rated AO at all. Although Steam and Itch.io allow AO games in their marketplaces, users can filter them out. Steam does not allow blockchain games.

Rumor has it a reboot could be on the way, but there's another Rare game revival that may never arrive. The first, released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, is best described as a 3D collectathon platformer. Players control two characters — Banjo the bear and Kazooie the breegull — as they traipse across eleven worlds, picking up valuable music notes and puzzle pieces to progress. It's been praised for its innovative gameplay. Banjo and Kazooie each have unique abilities that make tackling certain levels easier, and learn more throughout the game. The game's charming sense of humor has also contributed to its status as an all-time classic.
There is a new rumor going around that Banjo-Kazooie is finally, really, staging another comeback.

When it comes to video games featuring Disney characters, they tend to either “play it safe” and be the kind of games you’d expect, or they tend to go “big and boisterous,” like a certain crossover series with Square Enix. But back in the early 2000s, word began to spread of a unique title being created by Disney and Warren Spector. It would be a darker twist on Mickey Mouse and the Disney lore and would feature much different gameplay than one would expect. It would later be dubbed Epic Mickey and definitely stood out when it arrived in 2010.
